Im getting my black cherry xb in about a week, and was thinking about getting a cold air intake. Do they really do that much in this car? The only reason i ask is because i put one in my camaro and i really couldnt tell that much difference. Also if i do get one should i get a k&n or an injen?

I honestly believe my CAI really works for my box. I was driving with the stock intake for about 1 month.. then finally bought the K&N. The difference was immediately noticeable (engine response and speed too) Not so great a difference that you feel like you're driving another car.. but just enought to know that this upgrade is worth the bucks.
http://www.adventon.com had them for a good price if you wanna go with the K&N. i don't have any experience with the Injen.. sorry.

I too can tell you that with the intake installed, i noticed a difference during my break in period. Now that i have almost 2K miles, it seems to be running better every day. Better in response from the throttle, and better sounding to boot! I bought my Injen from Nopi for $165, they were the cheapest around for the Black Powder Coated intake about 2 months ago.

injen made a difference for my car.
got it at hopped up racing for 150.
don't get it from dealer at purchase.
...pretty much goes for all options...

Every little bit helps but you can get the same one on the aftermarket for a lot less than the dealer price.

Id say the difference with the CAI is subtle. If possible try to upgrade to a CAI and a better muffler. You'll definitely notive a difference in "zippiness" when you do that. Adding new headers will also make a huge difference. As far as mufflers go, I'd sya the TRD muffler, The DC Sports Muffler and the MAGNAFLOW offer the best combination of hp increase and sound without being noisy and attracting the fuzz.

I beg to differ on the header suggestion. What did DC get a whopping 2 whp.
Sorry ROI on that is ____e!
CAI def, header not so sure yet.
Muffler minimal..maybe 2 -3 whp.....get a muffler for looks and sound, not power.

Moved to power hungry since this relates to the performance aspect of the xB.

2hp is a nice increase on a car like this. This is a lightweight car the most subtle increases in hp are noticable. I haven't installed the header myself, just going on what a lot of people are saying on this forum.
The Injen seems to be the way to go. There is a comparison of the available cold air intakes somewhere in this forum. Injen came out on top..and I think it was also the cheapest. Can't beat more power for less money. :)

I put an Injen intake on my XB last weekend and I definitely noticed a significant difference not only with better pickup, but it also sounds cool too! It also doesn't seem to drag up hills and is better on the highway. I would recommend purchasing the Injen to anyone who is looking for that extra pick up. -Ashietovah

I have the Injen and would def reccomend it. Much better highway driving. Now it doesn't seem to have to work as hard doing 80.
