woo hoo, with the help of a friend(he did most of the work) we installed an intake. its the K&N CAI. the sound is awesome. i was trying to see how good it sounded by my house, and i am fully convinced that it is the best and loudest intake for the tC. i was flooring it, hit hit 5k rpm and dropped down and when i was pulling up behind this little girl who was walking on the sidewalk she turned around and had so much FEAR in her eyes. heres the pics, also i took off the plastic piece from the stock bumper and replaced it with a cutout of the dryguard that they send to you(cali=no snow) hahaa

Here is some advice. Contruct different mounting hardware. The inner mount (the one on the top of the motor mount) WILL break the mounting point off the top of the motor mount eventually (this is not replaceable without replacing the motor mount. . Anyone who has had one on for more than a few months that hasnt noticed it should check.. it will break it. Then, once that is broken and the unit is able to move more, it will begin bending the mount under the fender. Sorry to sound negative, but I was extremely un-impressed at the lack of testing they did on this. The motor moves, the mounts are flimsy (the inner one I mentioned is meant for the front of the stock airbox, which has two other solid mounting points, it was not made for the type of mounting the K&N uses) and it just works it until it breaks. It will not cause terrible issues unless the one under the fender finally goes, but it causes rattling. Just an FYI.

I would just try to make a better mount for it, both mounts. Also, as a side note, I used a small, 1" peice of right angle bracket painted to match and made a nice mounting bracket for the vacuum pieces that worked well when I still had it on. You would already be out the extra money to sell it and buy another, so you could most likely fab up a proper mount if you tried.
