Anyone try a magnetic oil drain plug?
I don't think he means one held in place by magnetism, but rather a plug that screws into the oil pan as usual and attracts metallic particles out of the oil. Couldn't hurt if you ask me, as long as the metal isn't overly soft.
WHAT (aarontrini85)???
How would something just fall out if its screwed in like any traditional drain plug?
What i'm referring to is the drain plug for our motor oil, and swapping it out with a same type & size except its magnetic (to catch metallic particals/shavings).
For those that have or are going to try it what size do we get and where do we findem (ebay?)?

I have one but it doesnt serve to much of a purpose. Because the oil is filtered is doesnt really catch anything. I have them on all my 2-stroke dirtbikes and they work great one there....no oil filter.

If you run steels in the clutch, the magnet will be very productive! If you run aluminum disks, you just get silver oil. But gears are ferrous and it could let you know if somethings happening there. Very handy for the price.
I got mine off Ebay from the seller auction link below a few months back. It fits perfect and works great. I highly recommend it. Contact the seller for exact specs if needed.

Well I didnt have the thing taken to a lab but I would say pretty sure its not aluminum. It felt about the same hardness and weight as that stock plug. And yes it is installed on my TC, where did you get the idea I was talking about somebody elses car? This is a very simple product, it fits great, works well and is inexpensive, what more can you ask for?
