am i getting boned?
here is the deal guys. we ordered my xb about 4 weeks ago and it is said to be coming in this friday. we ordered the car with the TRD clutch, shifter, muffler and shock/strut kit as well as some others but these were the only that seemed to be marked up. when ordered, the prices of these items were significantly lower than a final quote they faxed us a couple hours ago.
WHEN ORDERED-
shifter-157
clutch-328
muffler-299
shocks/struts- 329
UPDATED QUOTE-
shifter- 236
clutch-1147!
muffler- 359
shocks/struts- 645
now my question is... are these TRD parts normally installed at dealership or did they fack up? they seem to be charging an incredible amount for installation when I THOUGHT THE BEAUTY OF THE DEAL WAS NO INSTALLATION CHARGES!?

I work at a dealership (Nissan), and YES the labor will always jack the price of parts WAYYY up! There is an industry "Bible" that MOSTLY ALL dealerships get their labor times from and it's a BIG blue book called Mitchells...
P.S. There is also ALLDATA.com...

Have you given them any money yet? Or just a deposit? Tell em you changed your mind on the options. Just tell em not to install them and you'll take the car without them... ahem... they haven't put any of that stuff on there yet right? It's your money and your option. Hey just change your mind. It's money in your pocket or money in theirs. It's your choice to make. Good Luck.
i'm assuming you guys paid the same prices for these parts to be installed as well? i was under the impression it came from the main scion factory preinstalled. these charges just popped up outta nowhere!
I would just buy the parts (except for the clutch!) and install them yourself. If you don't know how, that sweet pile of new parts would be a great incentive to do some research and learn. It is not too hard. The clutch is really not needed ( at least not until you wear out the perfectly good brand new one that would go to waste otherwise). That would save you a boatload of money and half the fun is modding your car yourself. Otherwise you are lined up for a conjugal visit with no lube!

I agree with everyone else. Drop the parts from your order and buy them after you get the car.

all the accessories are the same price to buy.
each dealer has it's own labor rate to install your new parts.
daeler labor prices can vary from 60-120 per/hour.
i will give the same advice as a lot of other folks.
buy your parts from an online source (McGeorge parts or similar site)
the shifter and muffler you can install yourself with no worries.
why do the struts/shocks if you are not doing springs too. (do both at the same time and save the install charges) if you are looking to get better handling from your car, start with the rear sway bar.
and do not do the TRD clutch. it is not much better than the stock one.
buy a better clutch (Clutch Masters, Spec or similar brand) and do the lightweight flywheel at the same time. (you can do all this for the price the dealer was gonna charge)
The "Pure Pricing" concept means that the final installed prices for authorized dealer-installed parts should be posted at the dealer. When you ordered your Scion, the dealer should have shown you that list and copied the prices right onto your order. There should be no change or surcharge.
If the prices are different from the posted ones, or if the dealer has not posted the prices, call Scion. They'll want to know.

Well, while TRD parts are not officially "Scion" parts, they are listed on the Scion site and the uninstalled prices match those in Gaps720's post.
As far as installation goes, the PP concept is "Scion's Pure Price purchase experience means no haggle, no hassle. The price you pay for all products and services offered equals the dealership's posted and advertised price. Price menus are clearly posted in the dealership showroom for all products and services. Dealers are free to set their own prices."
Installation is a "service." The prices should be posted. They may vary among dealers, but they are supposed to be up-front and non-negotiable.

When I got my box I wanted an spoiler but I didn't want to add 12$ to my monthly payment so then the salesman told me that I can buy it cash and they wouldn't charge me a dime to install it...I'll call them and ask again to make sure it is going to be free install...
