Default YDR INSTALL SUCCESS

Well, figured I'd inform you all, I installed the YDR intake last night. Went pretty smooth. I felt a big difference driving home last night on the highway. Not put you back in the seat difference, but I smiled about it. Hopefully I can post MPG differences next week for you folks.

I'm not so sure. I'm not an aggressive driver. And every vehicle that I've done an intake to, has gone up in MPG.

the motor is so tuned for economy from the factory that any changes will cause the MPG to go down.

what milage were you getting before you installed it?

A pretty consistant 32 MPG.

So, you are saying that mileage per gallon will go down?

I am sorry but I get more miles per gallon. I am not challenging you but.....

Pretty much why I bought a short ram intake.

I sorta thought that was the concensus around here?

Well, like I was saying. I'll check it out and let you know next week. Without intake I get 32 consistantly. We'll see what it is with intake.

Good luck.

T-bolt clamps will make the intake look better and its a tighter seal.

About 3 bucks on ebay.

Thanks, but the clamps that come with the intake are fine, They seal just as well as the t-bolt clamps. I'm going more for performance than looks.

the consesus i see...
people were getting 30-31 before an intake.
people are getting 28-29 after.

what do you get before/after???
snap a pic of your log book....otherwise you could just be thinking you are.
i am not challenging you, but without proof, it's just talk.

oh, and give 5-10 tank averages...

hey i put a scion fx intake in mine and the MPG hasnt changed a bit , gived im near sea level and dont have to go up hills to often its a cosistent 31-39 mpg from road to highway. plus doesnt the CAI create a fuller burn anyways ? so wouldnt that help the milage ?

well, an intake allows more air and usually cooler more condensed air into the cylinders. Not so much a "fuller burn", but it kind of acts like when you blow on a fire. A more combustable burn. I believe.

I also have only 4500 miles so far and I have had it a year so maybe its still breaking in. Going up anyway. 31, 31, 33, 34 and once it was down to 27!
But then went back up again.

Its the air razor in the intake.....ha ha.

I did put one though, some of the Fujitas have the tornado things I noticed on the website.

I'd like numbers too.
I am pretty certain that the MPG + bolt-ons has been commented on before.
I've been too lazy to calculate.
Make sure that your drive the same way as before the mod.

Default UPDATE

Well, my first full tank of gas went well. I got about 31.6 miles to the gallon. I usually average about 32. So I'm getting about the same for mileage. Just remember it's cold here and I had about 1 hour of total warm up time in the morning. I'll post this next tank and the next tank that i do without warming the car up.

I disagree.

Logging every tank of fuel that has ever gone into my car, I saw an increase in fuel economy after each of my three engine modifications: intake, header, and exhaust.

Out of curiosity, what is your assertion that MPG will go down based on?
