Default I am finally becomming an *ACTIVE* SL member

After 271d, 23h, 5m, 0s I am finally ready to become an active member of Scionlife.com. I have been in love with the tC since its introduction at the NAIAS in Detroit. I have debated about getting numerous cars in the past 271d, 23h, 5m, 0s and I finally decided to go with my gut instinct and get a tC. I ordered my car 2 weeks ago, and i was quoted a 2 week time frame for delivery, so it should be here any day now.

A little about myself
I work for Cingular Wireless as a Retail Sales Consultant, so if you have any questions, feel free to hit me up. I have been driving since i was 3 (4 wheelers, dirtbikes, anything you can possibly imagine) and i just love cars. I already began ordering stuff for my new car in anticipation of it arriving.

I am going to school for computer programming. I think im about ready to ditch that profession. I want to get into customizing cars, becuase its something that i enjoy doing, something that I actually get excited about.

Anyways, I am looking forward to becomming an active member here, and look it only took me 271d, 23h, 5m, 0s

congrats! hope you love your car as much as I do!

and yea WeDriveScions is one of the know-it-alls around here (the good kind!)
ask a question (search first! ) and somebody will most likely have an answer, and its also a great place to meet new friends to hang out with.

but wait, 271d, 23h, 5m, 0s! you probably already knew that stuff!

Aight, lets test this out. Since youre the 'know-it-all', where did you learn the stuff you know? Like i said, im thining about going into car customization as a career, and i want to know where to begin. I know a lil bit of everything, but thats it, just a lil bit. Are there some sites to visit? Books to read? Classes to take? I know, and i am a firm believer, that you learn by doing. Basically, thats how i learned everything so far.

Thanks,
T.J.

Yeah.... I know what I've learned, mostly from SL and other reading and troubleshooting...

I believe my attempts so far have yielded a good mix of not TOO much, but enough to be clean, get a bit more kick, and keep the great lines of the tC... You can follow many of my posts to learn up, as that's what I did with individuals who's cars were more modified than mine...

Taek also has a heavily modified car, but his direction is a little more aggressive than mine, but resulted in an insanely custom tC...

The trick is time... spend a lot of it searching and reading up about what's been done and you can learn an insane amount and hopefully get some ideas of your own.

Any of my modifications are free game for questions, so pop me a PM if you need help with anything, but be sure to search around first, as you'll get a ton of info there as well.

Thats the same way I have always been. I dont like people touching my stuff... and I actually like doing it, thats the only way ill learn. PLUS, i can actually say that that IS my car, i DID all the work, not HAD it done.

However, Im gonna let someone tint my windows. I dont feel like waiting around to learn that to get it done, Ill just take a class later.

Thanks for the compliment....

There are some things that you need some more pricey tools to do, that I have done, but everything is pretty straightforward... I'd suggest the Intake/Header/Exhaust Combination to start engine wise, and then look into the Umnitza DDE's and tinted front reflector to clean up your front end. Tinted Windows and Tinted Tails also are really nice.... STUGOTTI has a great tinted setup on a BSP too.

Drop your tC as soon as possible, as that'll make you happy... TRD's or S-Techs are both great springs.

Interior LED changes are nice and undercar is fun too... and pretty straightforward.

That'll keep you busy for a bit of time/cash, and will yield good results!

Some great ideas there. Im a poor college student, but i just started a new job so i should start bringing in the money

Anyways, A lil idea of where im at. When I finally do take delivery of my car stuff i will be adding ASAP.

Sound
2 - 12" Alpine Type R in a Sealed (or ported) Box
Just Ordered - 1000W RMS Hifonics Amp

Lights
7 color LED underbody
4 - dual blue cathode kits (1 set for feet, 1 set for front and back of each seat, 1 extra)

Soon After:
Tint - im thinking 15% all around
Leds in vents (Ill look for other places around the car when i get it)
Exhaust - DRAXAS! (as of now)

Well thats all i have for now. If any of you have any suggestions, feel free to toss em out there.

Thanks again,
T.J.

Take it from an ol' fart.....I would keep the programming as "Plan B," but, definately try what excites you. The worse feeling in the world is to wake up one day and realize that you have spent 30 years in a boring, unfullfilling job working for idiots!
