Default trd cold air intake and cold air intake general questions

Pardon my ignorance but have a few questions about cold air intakes was wondering if anyone could help me out?
1. Why is the TRD cold air intake so much pricier than what K&N or AEM offer? Am I missing something. I dont see much difference in the designs other than the presence of water bypass valve on TRD and AEM versions?
2. Why does the scion website say that the TRD cold air intake is for off-highway use only? Can you not drive on the highway with a cold air intake installed? That would seem like a pretty useless modification if you could no longer highway drive?
3. What's the typical impact on fuel economy?
4. Will I be able to pass a state emissions inspection with a cold air intake installed?

thanks

1. Because it says TRD.
2. Because its not CA approved for emissions
3. Negligible
4. In Delaware, yes

I would highly recommend the Injen intake. You can buy it at www.showstoppersusa.com for $219, free shipping.

^ Everything said above... Most of thge legal comments are for California CARB emmisions reasons. The only reason it is more expensive if because they could... Go with Injen, you'll be much happier.... Fujita is nice as well.
