Default Cold air intake

Anybody out there have any input into the different array of cold air intakes out there? My questions are directed toward how the fit and finish are of the different kits, and their performance. Are there any drawbacks to these systems as well? My wife and I are proud owners of a new Xb Hot Lava #1301. We just want to get a little more performance out of an otherwise great little car.

I moved this to Power Hungry since it relates to the performance aspect of the scions.

The AEM intake is great so far for me. If you have the fog lights make sure they install a spacer or it will rub against them and make your drivers side light wobbly. I hear the INJEN Intake is comparable to the AEM, if not better. The INJEN and the AEM are the best ones to consider for performance and reputation.

INJEN thats what I bought for mine cause its smaller than the AEM and it sounds _____'n. You can really notice a difference on the top end too. :D (click on my profile for pix of it installed) Just one thing though....when you install it take the battery out it helps alot!

One bit of advice, Do-it-Yourself. These cars come at a great price but the accessories and dealer installations are where they make up for it. Even a beginner could do this modifiication. Also, if you're gonna get an intake look into a better muffler as well, it'll help for a more noticable power gain.

injen has the best hp/tq gains overall in the band due to it being a shortram....now im not talking about their new ones...im talkin about the original injen intake for the xB.....overall its the best at the current time of testing.....has no fitment or rubbing issues and will be the louder compared to cold air intakes....although unless im driving rather hard i dont hear it.....so i would imagine the cold air intakes like AEM's would be really quite....

performance is wat your lookin for?!

injen is proven to produce more power. injen cold air intake is what i would get. while your at it, slap on a TRD catback/exhaust system?! sounds good to me.

but since the car has such a small block and displacement, the car isnt gonna b tat much faster.

TURBO sounds good. heard sum xB'z gained 1-1.5 secs with turbo's.

turbo project?

I just put an Injen Short Ram on my XB this past weekend and noticed an incredible difference. The XB simply has more power and can handle the hills much better. It also zips better through the city and sounds cool too! I would recommend it for it is a smart investment. Good Luck! -Ashietovah

Is injen carb approved? Last time I checked it wasn't so if you get popped by a cop, your sunk. Go with SPFR for a stock looking intake system that is identical to injen. It was the original short ram intake made for the scion and most cops wouldn't even be able to tell that it's an aftemarket piece.
