Short Ram vs. CAI Pros, Cons????
i think the SRI is a little louder, but engine heat doesn't help. the CAI is nice, a little more performance, but of course, everyone fears hydrolock. fortunately the way the intake is housed water is an issue when you drive in like 6 in or water if not more. personally I love my CAI
Running short ram will give you a louder, more growl-like noise then running CAI. You'll get a small hp gain, though.
Running CAI will give you a quieter growl, but pretty decent hp numbers.
I doubt you'll feel the gained hp from running CAI. You may feel some of it at higher speeds, usually on the highway going 60+

For my fellow louisiana'er, I definitley suggest SRI.
I've been a longtime opponent of CAI's, but I rarely get support. Part of my quest for 14's is to show that you can be fast without one.
edblaq, hit me up if you want a track night. I go to NPR, usually.

I'll give you another reason:
Just installed the Injen in SRI configuration -Don't want to take off the bumper every time the air-filter needs to be checked. I installed it last night... It sounds like I put the muffler in the engine bay. When I get on the pedal and the tranny down-shifts it is LOUD. Install was easy -but I found a TON of dirt and residue from the polishing of the intake tube inside the tube. This crud inside the tube could be the reason some people have bad results from CAI installs. I put a garden hose inside the tube, compressed air and then used a rag with denatured alcohol to to further clean the tube.

if your going to spend the cash on the injen just for the short ram then why not get the weapon r?? it shows better gains and looks just as good
Too, late for me -since I already bought it! Also the fit of the injen in the short-ram configuration is not that great. The filter rubs on the side of the fender. I will do a test when I wash the car this weekend to see if water on top of the hood-fender gap will get the filter wet.
I will post some pictures when I get home.

i was a long time supporter of my SRI (weapon r) but i realized a few weeks ago that the engine bay just gets way to hot (headers)and i know it is hurting my performance. i can drive my car out of my house but after a few hours of driving i can tell the difference. im finally makeing the tranistion from SRI to cai. thank you cheap ebay intake
i have the injen in SRI mode on my car. the way the hood and fender meet, the water doesn't get to the filter. it travels along that grove between the rubber seal and fender down to that channel around the headlight and out the front of car.
and thats only if your not moving. if you are the water goes the other way. either way its not getting to the filter.

I've had my INJEN SRI installed for about 5 days or so. After I got used to the noise -I noticed the car did not launch as hard as before with the stock air-box. I swear that I lost some torque on the low end. Not sure if the ECU learned the intake and reduced power. My car has A/T and I could feel a loss of snap going from red-light to red-light.
Note: I tucked a paper towel on top of my SRI and closed the hood. Sprayed the hood with a water hose. Opened the hood and the inside edges of the hood was wet. The paper towel had a small wet-spot and was damp. So the filter will get damp when running in strong rain. I would cover the filter if you are going to go through a brushless car wash.
I hosed the car down a bit prior to the CAI install and there was some water near where the CAI filter would of been. Not sure if moisture will be an issue as the filter is oiled -but it will get wet. It's just a matter of how much.
I took out the wheel and fender and converted the INJEN to CAI. Sound is strong and realistic, doesn't sound like the exhaust is in the engine compartment anymore. Looks like I got my low-end torque back again. I will run a couple hundred miles on the CAI to see if the ECU will keep the initial performance.

How hard is the INJEN intake to install in the TC? and What would be better for me to have since I live in Chicago? Also is the INJEN highway use? It looks like CAI would be the best choice and has more horsepower gain then SRI is that true?
