Default TC windows in winter...

anyone from cold areas deal with the windows freezing shut. I live in WI and it hasn't even been that cold this winter but pretty much every morning my windows are frozen shut. So annoying. i drive about 15 min and they will finally struggle to open. Just curious if i am a lonely soul on this issue.

That is why I have a garage to park in. Don't have to worry about cleaing off the windshield or windows and peace of mind knowing nobody can door ding it while sitting in the parking lot.

By the way, if it is so cold that your windows are freezing shut, why are you opening them up?

try this.. spray the door window channel rubber with silicone spray (use a rag to protect from overspray onto the inside of the car).. that won't freeze and it will help the windows from freezing shut..

happens to me all the time.
it was worse in my corolla, because the motors were weaker.

it sucks in the morning when i need to open the window to drop mail into the box, slide my parking pass, go through the drivethru, etc

jk, on the melt part, rubbing in the 87 part....i left the midwest because of winter. frozen key locks, plugging in the block....starting the car and going back in the house to let it get bearable inside....

I remember last year in my Celica (over 15 years old), the door lock hinge would freeze....so I had to drive my manual with one hand holding the door inside until it thawed and caught!

my old corolla used to have a problem with the back drivers side door. if you opened it when it was cold, it wouldn't close. it would pop back open. so, i tied a string through the door frame and to the passenger seat one year, so i wouldn't open it.

i fixed it though, just took a few taps to align the lock clamper thing

the silicone trick does work. though we park ours inside, it is out all day at wife's office, and never had a freeze issue ( unless the day before it rained; then anyone can freeze up when temp drops so fast ).
I do like the midwest vs Cali vibe going on right now..... great way to start the day

Oh yeah, if there's enough ice where the window meets the door at the bottom. Don't burn out the motor trying to open it. There's no reason to open the window when it's that cold anyway.

This might sound like a weird question but what do you have your intake set on? Is it on recirculate or that outflow icon? You can't do the recirculation one in the cold. It will fog the windows up immediately.

Not as fun as running to your car on ice and it's below zero and you get in, start your engine, curl into a little ball and scream because you can't do anything about being cold!
