View Full Version : ***2 tone photochop me PLEASE!!!!!!***
Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 01:52 AM I'm dead set on 2 toning the cool bus. I've been trying to think of ideas, variations, etc on how to do so. I plan on using toyoa BSP paint because i love the flake in it, so PLZ PLZ everyone that enjoys photochopping plz help me come up with some ideas. Here's a few pics to use:

I'm a horrible photochopper, as you may see later, so u can understand why i need some help, haha.
Plz post up!
Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 02:15 AM Okay, well here's 1 idea of mine. It's a conventional 2 tone style
Solar Yellow and BSP, CF Hood instead w/ eyelids:
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y123/Prototype_xB/711e8b0c.jpg
or
Solar Yellow and BSP still with a CF hood instead w/ eyelids AND a TCM pin strip
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y123/Prototype_xB/2toneprototype2.jpg
I told ya i was a bad photochopper, hehe.
SXT_HuntToKill 02-09-2006, 02:35 AM pin stripe looks better
Da_Mac 02-09-2006, 02:38 AM I second that pin stripe looks nicer
magicmanjk808 02-09-2006, 03:34 AM this is something someone already has....not my picture.

Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 03:44 AM /\/\ *drool* that's exactly what i want, only a thinner pin strip
Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 03:46 AM anyone know what front lip that is in that pic?
oBnoXious_XB 02-09-2006, 07:26 AM pardo?
Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 01:17 PM anyone with any photochops?
midtowndesi 02-09-2006, 01:48 PM hot idea, homey... your box will look like a bumble bee ;]
i want to do something similar to my polar white but im wondering what color to paint the top portion of the box...
gl with the bumble bee transformation!
Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 02:34 PM Yup yup, i believe this is what i will stick with:
SY/BSP w/ TCM pin stripe

Prototype_xB 02-09-2006, 04:00 PM How much base coat and clear coat do you think i need to do this?
1 qt. primer?
1 qt. base?
1 qt. clear?
1 pint base (for pin strip)?
RumbleB 02-09-2006, 04:22 PM I am doing something very similar to mine. Black and yellow etc. BTW we should get together sometime for a show or something. I still want to make it to a NC meet to see all of your cars first hand.

Prototype_xB 04-21-2006, 05:24 AM *UPDATE*
Well homies, the car's at the paint shop!!!! :):) We picked up paint today: Pearl Black and a Metalic Silver. We're gonna try to have it done before next saturday. Slam Session, a pretty large 3 day car show here in NC is next saturday so we're gonna try to make that. I'll try to post up pics as we come along.
Prototype_xB 04-21-2006, 05:27 AM We did most of the wet sanding tonight and i layed down the tape for the body lines. I'll try to post up some pics by sunday

That is so hilarious!!! I was dyin!!
bB2NER 04-21-2006, 08:16 AM Should look very cool. I'd do the mirrors in BSP though. It will make them less noticeable. The stock mirrors stick out too far if you ask me?
Prototype_xB 04-30-2006, 04:07 AM Update:
We got the base down. 4 Coats. Here's a few pics:
After a week of wet sanding i thought i'd be done, yet here i am slaving away

We're gonna let that set and cure tomorrow and come monday we'll spray the silver stripe and then spray the whole thing with a clear coat. I'll post up more pics soon
bBlover 04-30-2006, 04:21 AM Okay, last one.
http://www.geocities.com/scott-bird@sbcglobal.net/conv.jpg I want my xB like that!!! :P who do i go to for that job? Wat is that character's name?
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y123/Prototype_xB/painting4.jpg
Please, please please tell me you removed the vinyl on the window sills prior to painting. Also, why not shave the rear wiper spray nozzle? And finally, did you remove the spoiler before painting and paint it separately?
Prototype_xB 04-30-2006, 04:45 AM Please, please please tell me you removed the vinyl on the window sills prior to painting.
Yes
Also, why not shave the rear wiper spray nozzle?
We did (after pics were taken)
And finally, did you remove the spoiler before painting and paint it separately?
Yes, put it back on after the paint had dried and flashed so i could take more pics

Whew. Good work. I also saw in another thread that you painted the sills. Good job with the details!

You mean the door jams? Ya. I'm painting the silver metalic pin strip on the outside and using silver metalic vinyl in the jams for the stripe, just because, the jams are a pain man.
Prototype_xB 04-30-2006, 01:07 PM lookin good matt! see you in charlotte next sunday?
I'm gonna be running a charity car show for the american cancer society next sunday. Give me a heads up when the next meet comes around the corner.
Serialk1llr 04-30-2006, 01:18 PM it kills me to see such a beautiful Solar Yellow painted with something else. :(
Can't wait to see the outcoem though :)
MikeC 04-30-2006, 03:25 PM Did you only wet sand the top portion? And also, any pics of the final job? I am surprised that you don;t have a bunch of crap sticking to your paint in there.

Yeah, I meant jambs. Nice work on keeping the stripe. Are you doing this in your garage?

ya only sand what you're going to paint. And no, no trash. The shop is power vented and we kept the floor wet when painting.
Prototype_xB 05-02-2006, 07:36 PM Are you doing this in your garage?
Na, i'm doing this at a very close friends shop. We do this on the side as a hobby i guess you could say

evilBOXevil 05-02-2006, 10:49 PM That really looks great! Nice!!
Redline-Customs 05-02-2006, 11:33 PM Looks good. I hope you welded the wiper hole, then did body filler. Just filler will crack later and fall out, especially if you have a sub in the back.
MikeC 05-03-2006, 01:48 AM Looks nice man, mad props.
hxckid88 05-03-2006, 05:59 AM Suprisingly, I like it alot. I just honestly would have done something a little different, I think that type of two toned paint job is a little cliche. I have a few things in my head but I dont know how easy it is to physically do. But I like!
Max2k 05-03-2006, 06:46 AM I'm a fan of the paint, but I'd have done the mirrors in black.
bB2NER 05-04-2006, 05:24 AM I'm a fan of the paint, but I'd have done the mirrors in black. I agree. He could always get another set of stock mirrors in BSP
