Default Wheel locks for aftermarket wheels with tuner lugs?????

i have question. i just bought some new wheels for my tC. i live in iowa in the country, so the likelyhood that someone would steal my wheels is slim but, i love my new wheels and they make my tC look a lot better than stock and id hate to have them stolen. i do have "tuner lugs" the lugs that came with the wheels and they have a special key but there all the same. should i buy some acual wheel locks for my wheels for my own piece of mind or is it not necessary with the "tuner lugs"?

any opinions. any suggestions on where i can buy the locks/what brand i should get?

unfortunately only 4 of the 20 lugs are locks. which means any 4 lug honda owner can come along and steal the 16 non-locks (with standard sockets) for their H ride. well xA and xB owners too...

yes they can and the honda guy probably would but the lugs are cheaper to replace than the wheels.

If you love your wheels, put on some locks

arent "tuner lugs" actual locks? or are all tuner lugs (of the same brand) interchangeable? for aftermarket wheels you just need a conical-seated lug, which has nothing to do with needing a special key. you can buy regular 22mm conical seated lugs for $1.50 each at most wheel shops.

from what i understand the Lugs i have that came with my wheels are the same tuner lugs you can go buy at auto zone. they have a key which you have to stick into them to put them on/take them off. its the size of a 3/8" bolt head. so someone can go buy the same set with the same key and then take off my or any one elses wheels. Wheel locks have a special unique design that helps make criminals have a harder time removing the lugs inturn making it more difficult to steal the wheels although still possible.

i was just asking if folks thought that locks were necessary or if because tuner bolts were different that my wheels should be ok. thanks

These are nice locks. Because of the outer sleeve, thieves cant jam a socket over it or use pliers/vice grips to remove the lug....in theory.
Since the sleeve is free floating/rotating, I suppose if you get a larger socket that matches the diameter of the sleeve, you can hammer the sleeve off/down to expose the center/core of the lug. Then use another smaller socket and hammer it over the lug to remove.
