I will see what I can do, but I am not the greatest. nightwishkid 02-13-2006, 02:36 AM its kinda hard to find one because of the "reflectons" in the car/glass but it can be any color if that makes it easier bassist1217 02-13-2006, 02:56 AM http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a253/silver98v6/xbbefore.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a253/silver98v6/xbafter.jpg i suck at photoshop, but i hope that kinda helped get the idea across. i probly chopped a little too much... nightwishkid 02-13-2006, 11:48 AM hummmmmm that doesnt look half bad hummmmmm............. i had a friends dad say "lets chop the top down on that car." he is building a car garage so i wanted to see what it would look like b4 i said anything (i hope he is not jokeing, i dont think he is) his face was serious smokeydog001 02-13-2006, 12:18 PM    Awesome!! Go for it dude!!! Be the first to do an old school box! Needs a little more chop IMO. More chop, lower front end, suicide doors & steelies!!! I'm hearing beach music!  deloreanz 02-14-2006, 09:46 AM I've always thought xB's look pretty tight chopped. 5-Axis already did that to the Pioneer xB w/ the turn-table in the back. http://gallery.scionzone.com/albums/sema2004/DSC04832.sized.jpg evilBOXevil 02-14-2006, 05:31 PM Quick photochop of a bsp xb... http://driftanddestroy.com/chop.jpg It doesn't look so good on this angle...I like the 5axis one, but I think they brought up the body panels instead of dropping the top. gjpjr84 02-14-2006, 05:40 PM ya know that doesn't look half bad... trikkonceptz 02-14-2006, 09:43 PM Believe me its an awesome mod, until you have to have glass made, thats about the time that all these projects get squashed. The compound curves of the front and rear glass makes it's very dificult and very pricey to make event with lexan or other glass substitute. So more power to ya, its worth the money, but then again doubling the cost of your car may not be worth the money... IMO RTon20s 02-15-2006, 07:00 PM The 5 Axis xB was indeed chopped. The sides of the xB just look so much taller because of the combination of chopped top and wide body kit with skirts. And Trikkoncepts is right to some degree on the glass. But there are a lot of tricks out there to avoid using replacement glass. Things like laying back the stock windshield and cutting down the stock rear glass can save you money. Or if you go the more traditional route, just be prepared to pay a good glass man what he is worth. The reality is that a good chop is all in the planning. Always remember, "there is more than one way to skin a cat." black_cube 02-16-2006, 12:16 PM Believe me its an awesome mod, until you have to have glass made, thats about the time that all these projects get squashed. So more power to ya, its worth the money, but then again doubling the cost of your car may not be worth the money... IMO We sourced rear quarter windows from Brazil (one of VW's glass sources) for the Jetta Coupe I helped build . It cost us $7000 for them to make the first set of DOT-approved tempered glass windows. As long as the chop is done right, you won't have to worry about getting the front or rear door windows, as they will simply sit lower in the door (if that makes any sense). But notice on the 5-Axis car, the rear door window is one piece, not two piece like on a normal xB. They may have just installed a non-moving window in there. If you are really thinking about doing this, your best bet would be to contact 5-Axis to see if they will sell you the windows. They have already payed for the tooling costs. Make sure the windows are DOT-approved and tempered, because they may not be if the xB was only meant to be trailered from show to show. trikkonceptz 02-16-2006, 07:12 PM I have spoken to five axis about doing my xB. They make their own glass, cost for the new glass on the xB, $11,000. It is an overly expensive project for an xB. The reason so many hot rods do it is because they mostly have flat glass windows and even back then were not tempered glass. It is possible and one of the most awesome mods .. but extremely expensive. About as expensive as importing the clear glass from japan for the xB. Just not enough justification for us working folk .. captainlaziness 02-16-2006, 07:18 PM that does look pretty damn cool, i guess you could start buying powerall tickets and cross your fingers.... bunburiano_chilepicking 02-16-2006, 07:33 PM yeaa thats cool bassist1217 02-16-2006, 09:17 PM i personally am not a fan of the after. i was attracted the the xB because of it's shape, and chopping the top like that kinda makes it...less boxy. more sporty. i wouldn't do it if it was mine. (considering i even had the cash) Spiderbox 02-16-2006, 09:49 PM i always thought that the xb would look so much better with a little chop i mean the car has ridiculous headroom one of my friends is 6'3 and theres like 8 inches of extra headroom for him. i think it looks better and also would help with the aerodynamics and handling of the car. i know for those of you who've got the box up to 100 on a windy day knows what i'm talking about. bassist1217 02-16-2006, 11:48 PM i always thought that the xb would look so much better with a little chop i mean the car has ridiculous headroom one of my friends is 6'3 and theres like 8 inches of extra headroom for him. i think it looks better and also would help with the aerodynamics and handling of the car. i know for those of you who've got the box up to 100 on a windy day knows what i'm talking about.i don't drive 100. and what's wrong with lots of headroom, huh? :P Spiderbox 02-17-2006, 01:12 AM i don't drive 100. and what's wrong with lots of headroom, huh? :P[/quote] adds unnessary bulk and weight to the top of the car affecting the handling and speed, i love the box shape but i would rather have a little better handling and better aerodynamically based speed. Headroom is nice but too much is no good, feels too much like an suv and its 4 or 5 inches of extra air that i will never touch. I dont know about you but the only time i raise my hands above my head in a car is to adjust the rearview mirror, sun visor or to flip the bird. and also when i raise both my hands in the air and drive with my feet but i only do that to impress the ladies :D black_cube 02-17-2006, 01:11 PM I have spoken to five axis about doing my xB. Hmm, well, I guess a company that offers something no one else does can charge whatever they want. But they are obviously trying to make back the money for the mold/fixtures. As I mentioned before, it cost us $7000 to make the first set of rear quarter windows. Now that everything is set up, a replacement set of windows is only $355. deloreanz 02-18-2006, 02:29 AM I think chopped looks cool, but at the same time I still love the tall stock look. Tumbleking 02-18-2006, 05:53 AM if your box is lowered w/ springs or bagged then the height doesn't look so bad. If you chopped the top it would look even better, IMHO. I would like to see a chopped top box parked under a lifter truck like they do the mini trucks (YES I KNOW NOT LIKELY ). Anyone know anything about the bB that has the open " BED" or was that just a good photo shop? trikkonceptz 02-18-2006, 04:23 PM No the open bed bB's do exist in japan. go to any local scion dealer they should have brochures which actually show pics of them. They do not seems parctical at all though, the fake bed is only big enough to hold grocery bags .. Tumbleking 02-18-2006, 04:57 PM it isn't about function for me it is about being rare... look at my rims.... y put 14lb rims on a scion.,... it's not FAST... they fit they are 4 spoke ... it is a geometry thing. I like it. superjeer 02-20-2006, 08:56 PM not my chop.. http://hvtm.totalcar.hu/car/m/scion/854265.jpg Tumbleking 02-21-2006, 05:56 PM That sh!t is pretty hot! Props for the photo shop. I like the small change to the front lip makes is looks more aggressive. I dunno if big mouth is the way to go though for a box. But Mad props for origionality! Actually, if you go to 5 axis's website, they have pics of the xB being chopped and constructed from the ground up as well as the TC with the plasma screen in the back. |
