This would be cool in the xB. I could watch all the Play Boy channels in my whip. LOL

We sell these at the stereo shop I worked at. You can get them cheapoer if you get an order of 5 together. I was going to do one but it looks kinda wierd on a PW xb when its lowered.

I park outside. I'd give it about a day before someone tried to pop that thing off my roof with a crow bar. Its pretty dope though. I'd consider getting one in the future if you could get internet access through it. I know that you can get internect access with DirecTv, so I wouldn't be surprised if these guys add it as an option in the future and that might entail a different dish. Having an always-on broadband connection in the xB would be so dope. $3,500 is steep. Like most subscription based services, the cost of the hardware will drop significantly in the near future if you commit to some sort of contract. Just wait till DirecTv and Dish Network come out with their versions and the price wars will start. Cell phones went from being a luxury item for rich people to being a commodity in about two years time.
First off, the Tracvision A5 will never come down in price. However, wholesale is quite a bit less than retail. The old "bubble" Tracvision system never did come down in price all the years it was out.
The A5 gets the high definition signal. The high definition 12 volt box isn't out yet but you can "piggyback" a household HD box onto it and get the HD channels. All the HD flip downs are starting to come out so it should prove to be pretty cool.
They are working on the internet access feature through the A5 and I imagine it should be released fairly soo.
I was going to get one of these about a month ago but I just couldn't figure out how to make it look good on a XB. The XB sits so low you can't really mount it to any kind of roof rack without it looking huge. I was going to mount it directly to the roof but the dish is not flat on the bottom. So, I pretty much gave up on it for now until I can figure out a mounting method that looks good. Good luck with yours and I look forward to seeing pics.

If you got $3500 for this why not cut a hole in the roof and flush mount it, and have a custom headliner build. We have more then enough head room for it. That couldn't cost more then a couple thousand more. Might even be able to paint it, like an XM box.
I already thought about flushing it in the roof but I couldn't figure out the drainage problem. You can't just sink something into the roof and let all the water sit in and around it. Also, you can paint the A5 to match as long as you don't use metallic paint.
Wouldn't be hard to set up drains for it. set it up like most sunroofs. A nipple in each corner with some tubing connected to carry the water out. Run them to the drip rails and put a nipple there for the hose to connect to.
It might be easier, though, to make a build up around it. You'd change the roof like, true, but if done right it wouldn't look bad and you wouldn't have to worry about cutting the roof, just molding the new stuff onto it.

In my opinion it would look way to big on top if you just built up around it and didn't try to flush it in the roof. I don't mean to flush the whole dish - just the part that sticks out the bottom. It only amounts to sinking less than 2 inches into the room, but it would look much nicer.
