Yes, the tc motor is for a Xa. The 3sgte motor was an idea but the cost is too great and the wireing diagram is imposible to find. So the plan is to put the 2az motor and turbo it giving minimun 300hp to wheels. Plus parts are more accessible for me to find. Anybody know where I can pic up a complete swap from for a Tc?

^ yes sir the only known diffrance is the valve cover has 2 extra threaded rods sticking out of it to hold on the engine cover (theres looks nicer any ways with the red vvti on it) other then that there identical

im 100% sure it would but some times its about being diffrant so i would say go for it if you have the cash but i dont know if 8k in to an x just to make 140whp is worth it but then again i have road in a 2400 lb 220 whp civic and that was fun so depending on the xa's weight i might consider it (if i wasnt broke lol)

the motors actually arent the same...its the same housing, but different intenals. Its still a 2AZ, but its a different 2AZ that we are running with the main difference starting with the dreaded crankshaft bearings.

same here they both make the exact same power and both sold as 2.4l the only 2azfe i know that is diffrant is the rav4 one it makes more tourq i belive and has a slightly better flowing head
I would say save up for a 3SGTE. The 2AZ is a bit heavy. In the tC it already causes an ugly 60/40 weight split. In an xA it would be something like a 70/30. Unless you plan on only drag racing then the car will handle like crap. A 2 litre would probably be best, in my opinion.
how about this... why not get a 2zz from a celica GT-s. those engines are wicked and are pretty light coming in at 1.8L. i've thought about this engine to be put into a tc.
In fact, toyota should have just kept that engine (but with revisions!!) for our tc!! maybe bump the displacement to 2.0L!! that would have been a sick ___ tc with the capability to really do some damage to Honda and their VERY capable si! im personally disappointed in the low power band and no lift! and only 160 hp and 163*tourque. I would have picked up the celica if it didnt look like such a girl car.
But i still love the car. It still has enough power to keep me happy!

If he's talking turboing the 2AZ, it won't pass emissions anyway (unless a CARB legal kit comes out in the near future). Honestly, a 3SGTE is a much better option, its lighter, and has a hell of a lot more potential than our 2AZ. If it weren't for the fact that it would have been 10 years old, and the fact that RWD sucks in the snow, I would have picked up a 95 MR2 turbo instead of my tC (okay, I was also looking at the 96 LT4 vette convertible, 92 NSX, 95 Supra Twin Turbo, and the incredibly rare 95 3000GT VR-4 Spyder, but practicality won out, this time
, once I'm 25 and the insurance takes that drop, I'm getting a C6 or C7 if its out).
