aftermarket parts + insurance = ??
if u want to insure ur aftermark parts incase of an accident or if anything is stolen then u can...you dont have to but yes ur insurance will go up so the question u have to ask urself is it worth the extra money. chances are if its performance parts then i dont think u would have to worry about the insurance but if its body kits u might want to look into it so it all depends on if its worth the extra amount.
I am pretty sure that imost insurance companies have a policy that states that they will cover up to X amount of aftermarket parts (as long as they are bolted to the car, your fuzzy dice and cd's are not covered) and you can show them reciepts for them. My buddy's car was totalled by the guy who stole it and they gave him 2,000 more than the car was worth because of his rims, tires, springs, camber kits, ect. He obviously spent more than 2,000 on all that stuff but that was their max allowable reimbersment. I hope this helps!
Adding aftermarket parts wont make ur insurance go up. If u add body parts to the car they wont be coverd under ur insurance. it be wised to tell ur insurance and tell u want to add it incase u get in a accident! so it could be covered
When I put my nav system in I notified my insurance company about it so it would be covered. The system cost $1,400. My insurance went up only $6/month, which to me is worth having it covered.
When you add aftermarket products to a vehicle you have 2 ways to go.
1) tell the insurance company of your Aftermarket products. they will cover it all, and your premium will go up.
1a) However, say you put 5 grand into visual mods over the next 5 years. If the Kelly blue book value of your vehicle is say 8,000 and the body damage ( in case of accident ) is 9,500, then they will consider the car "totaled" and give you what they think the car is worth and a percentage of what the differnence is in the aftermarket products.
2) Dont tell the insurance company a word, insurance stays the same. If you get into an accident, aftermarket products are not covered.
- This is just how my insurance company works, others may be differnent.

1. Talk to your insurance company/agent. There are no hard & fast rules for this sort of coverage, and every company handles it differently.
2. SEARCH- this topic has been covered countless times in the past, often for several pages, and frequently involving several knowledgeable folks in the insurance industry (myself included). All of your answers are but a simple query away...

My insurance will cover every aftermarket piece I have. As long as I have reciepts and proof of pictures that I do actually have the stuff installed on my car. They cover $2,000 worth of audio/electronics as well. It doesnt change my premium whatsoever.
I added the following to my insurance:
injen intake
Strut bar
sway bar
Rims/tires
grillcraft grills
almost 2k in stuff. my total coverage went up $50 for 6 month policy.
definately worth it to me.

Take copius amounts of pictures of your mods and keep receipts for it all and file it away. This will help them determine the difference in your car compared to a stock vehicle, which could help get you more money in an accident. Or you can go and get the vehicle appraised and get 'trailer queen' insurance, it shouldn't be too much more than what you are paying now. I think they require you not to drive it as much though if you do that.
Also if you a shop to install the AM part get a work order/esitmate of recored. Show that to you Ins Comp. I think they'll with cover some if not all the cost to reinstall that part when it gets stolen or gets in a accedent.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Save those receipts when you buy something for your car. You'll need them if you get in an accident and the parts get damaged.
RECIEPTS RESIEPTS RECIEPTS.
