Default Many tCs being reported stolen!!!

i kno this is off topic but i wasnt granted in the off topic forum.. but anyways... a cop told me the other day that scions have been increasingly getting stolen.. New York City and Newark... I heard the tc has the same exact setup under the steering column of the camry.. as everyone should know Camrys are in the top 5 for most stolen vehicles... sooo... what's the best anti theft device out there besides the scion alarm.. which steering wheel locks are good? right now i only have the autolock that connects to the pedal... Help me and yourself put more security on your car.... Don't let your investmnet get stolen...

How are they getting stolen? There's the engine immobilizer system in them.... Without the proper keys with the chips, the car won't move.

i think it's just a ignition imobilzer, if thats the cast they just can just bring a different key cylinder with them, tap the ignition, starter, and a few other wires and bang car is started. at least i'm pretty sure thats how it works

doesnt matter what is in it, if a thief wants it bad enough, they can and will steal it.

this just makes it harder to be stolen.

Here's a simple solution, and I do it quite frequently out here in AZ

Remove your EFI 20A Fuse from your Fuse Box in the engine compartment right by your battery AND remove all power to your Fuel Injectors(or individually disconnect them all)

Takes about 5 mins to do

The factory immobilizer is programed into the ecu. So the way they would steal a tC would be the same as how they take some of the newer honda/acura's. They pop your ignition the traditional way, and if they're quick enough they replace your ecu with their own (that they have their own key coded to. Once thats done all they do is hold the key that is coded to their own ecu and drive off like any other car.

IMO the best way to setup a good anti-theft system would be;

a) good quality alarm system (i.e. DEI, Autopage, etc) NOT ebay stuff.
b) some sort of backup battery for the alarm system.
c) mercury or some sort of tilt sensor (for time when they try and tow)
d) And if your really in an area where you really think is bad have someone wire you up an ECU or Fuel pump kill switch with a completely hidden switch where only YOU would know the location of.
