Problems with the dealer!!!! Did anyone order a scion?
did anyone order a scion that wasn't currently on the lot? they usually have to get it from the factory if you add extra stuff. if so how long did it take to get it? my dealer told me i should have my car within 2 weeks, it's been a month now and they don't even know if it came to the port!! And after that i have to wait another 7 days for it to come to the dealer. Why don't they tell you this stuff when you purchase it.
They say there's going to be a wait, but most dealers suck at estimating that wait.
I would just keep calling for them to look into it, if you haven't been already. At least once every couple days. Maybe if you show them you're really interested, they'll put more effort into it... Or, worst case, you bug the crap out of them and they try to get it for you so you'll go away.
Either way, you win.

i picked up my xA on friday, and after waiting 6 wks for the car they forgot to add floor mats. which they charged my 125$ for. They said to call them and they will get them in but i hope it doesnt take another 6 weeks to get them.
Back when I ordered mine, I put the order through sometime in late-April/early-May and got my car around June 20th. They told me straight up that the day after placing my order the car would be shipped from Japan and then it'd be about six weeks to make the trip by boat to the West coast port. Once it was in Oregon, it took about another 10 days to get to the lot here in Milwaukee. Granted, this was back in 2004 but I'd imagine the process isn't much different now.
A good Scion salesperson should be keeping you up to date! You shouldn't have to bug the heck out of them! If they had to place an order for your car it could take up to two months, but they might be able to locate one from another dealer faster. They should tell you the whole process beforehand. These cars are on a tight inventory and they're sometimes hard to find in specific colors that aren't allready spoken for! I hope you get yours soon!
I'm pretty close to being able to order my xA
I'm going to take a test drive Monday and Tuesday (13th-14th) and order as soon as I get my Tax refund.

I ordered mine yesterday (Wednesday) and it should be here on Friday 24. It is based on the dealer allocation and of course, on how you do your innitial approach. I talked to the sales manager directly and asked if they had what I wanted in allocation since I did not see one in the lot. I told him that another dealer gave me some info. but wanted to confirm it (I did not say what the other dealer said) and he went ahead and checked what was available at Southeast Toyota (distributor). He knows that I worked for TMC for many years and that I know the process so he let me see the computer screen. I saw that there were 10 xA's in allocation for the southeast dealers, only 8 were actually ordered by dealers. So I asked him how many of those were on the ground. (that means how many where actually out of the ship, because even when they already arrived and accounted for, they may not be clear to ground them) He said 6. When you talk to them like that they kind of understand that you know what you are saying and they will not give you the run around or try to sell you a leftover
So the wait should be no more than ten days if it is on the ground.
See ya!

Straight and honest, do not do it at David Maus Toyota, something is "shady" there with the sales reps.
Of all people they tried two times, two different reps to trick Mom when she was looking for a Camry. The short story, both sales reps gave us two diff. prices (bumped higher) for the same car, in the same day and blamed Toyota (SET) for not stating the "true" price only the MSRP.
When we decided to leave, we walked outside and the rep followed and said, "that is how we make the money for our car payments and rent" whatever that means... and we were surprised he said that
We then bought it a Central FL Toyota.

well i might as well share my story of how long i waited...
so i go the dealership i orignally was lookn at a matrix but it didnt fit my budget so the rep i was talkin to told me a bout the xa and i liked it a lot and pretty much grew on it when i test drove one, but not the color i wanted. so he got a hold of a PW 5 speed in pennsylvania on a monday and said it would be here thursday. thursday came we gave a call and apparently the guy we talked to "left" dunno if her got fired transfered w/e but he wasnt there anymore. the guy we were ahnded to gave us a smaller price than the original rep did. the car wasnt there so he said wait till next week monday. monday comes ITS NOT THERE the trucker was in jacksonville at the time and it should be there wither tuesday of wednesday. well tuesday i got sick with a severe sore throat so we forgot about the car then called wednesday it was there BUT it came with a tonneau cover when i asked for no options cause i kno i could get them cheaper elsewhere and i would use many. so theres me story 1 1/2 weeks from new england to the sunshne state

Wow, I ordered my Scion about a week ago. I'm not sure when it's supposed to get to the dealer but I can't pick it up until May 10th. The rep said that wasn't a problem so I hope it'll be there when he said it would.
Update: The dealer just said that they have my car and it is just waiting for me to come pick it up! Now I just can't wait!

I am very new to Scion and love the cars from what I've seen. Since you guys ordered cars, I assume that you have processed all the paper work for financing or that you wanted to just see the car. I plan on buying one late summer or early fall. I would like to get a 5 speed manual in Polar White. In case they don't have one, I would like them to find or order me one.
Any advice or tips for a newbie?

Two cents from a newbie: I asked for side curtain air bags and a spoiler and was told it would be at least two or three weeks because no cars in the area (western NY/PA) had the curtain air bags. I was told the spoiler was no problem because they just install stuff like the spoiler when they roll it off the ship into a holding area. I said, "Sure, OK. I'll take a black one, a blue, one, or a silver one, whatever you can get yer hands on.". A few days later, the dealer told me they had a silver one w/curtain air bags they could get sent to them, so I accepted that one. About three weeks later, the car arrived, with the spoiler and the curtain air bags.
I don't know why anyone would have to wait two or three months for their Scion. The people at the dealership I went to said something to the effect of, "If you have a couple alternate choices for the color, you won't have to wait as long." Maybe that's why I got mine in a few weeks. I just wish they had new ones in Black Cherry.
To all the "Future Scion owners"- I think you'll like your new ride! My only gripe is a small one. I traded in an Xterra, so I am still getting used to the way my xA rides. I think my goal this summer is to get some overtime pay and buy better shocks or something. Otherwise I love it. Took a long trip, got 38.38 MPG. Since then, I'm getting around 32-33 MPG. Awesome!
