this weekend i plan on painting my pillars. I'll take pictures and give as detailed of instructions as a can if anyone cares. If not please let me know so i don't waste my time.

 

just so yah'll know it might be a minute tell i can upload pics and instuctions cause it's to cold to paint where i'm at.

Make sure to clean them real good with 90% rubbing alcohol. What color are you painting them?

 

are you serious about the alcohol.......what is that gonna do. i'm painting them blue.

 

It will allow the color to stick good (not peel up later) and not give you any fish eyes.

Little circles in the paint where it wasn't perfectly clean (free of oil or grease from your fingers)

 

roger.....man...you can never get enough about this stuff. Since it's too cold right now, i'm focused on the sanding part.

Sanding??? You trying to make them smooth? If I do mine I'm gonna leave the texture so it matches the rest of the interior pieces.

 

well.......i plan on doing all of them including the main dash

you might also want to get some adhesive promoter to spray on the plastic before the paint goes down......helps paint stick to plastic ........ALCOHOL A MUST!!!!!!!

 

before or after primer

 

spray it on the plastic before the primer it kinda seals the plastic and gives the paint something to stick to ......you can go to Auto zone and pick it up for around 6 bucks a can or if you're going to have them painted with a gun you need to get PLA-STIC IT COMES IN A QT. CAN FROM ppg , Dupont etc.....

 

thx i'll try it out. i was just gonna use the alcohol,prime it, then paint it.

 

well, i finished the sanding but it might be awhile til i can paint due to bad weather.
i would show pics of how the sanding turned out , but i don't know how to upload pics without loading them from a web page
