Default Push me over the fence!!!

its late and im excited so i will be rambling a good bit, bare with me.

im hung on wanting to get an XB.

from a design aspect, i love the looks. but everyone is telling me its too weak to be worth it.

also a concern, i am 6'8 and plan on getting a standard xb so naturally head/leg room is an issue. If it is cramped, i will just move the seat back a few inches, no big deal.

I must say if i hadnt stumbled upon this site i probably would have already been looking for a different vehicle, but im excited to see so many aftermarket parts for the xb. (specicily performance parts) as well as people intersted in them

what are the most commonly upgraded parts on an xb to increase HP/TQ from stock?
what kind of performance results have people had with the xb?

i agree. and about it being too weak to be worth it.... well, its a $14k car. you cant expect too much power. but i do think you will be a bit surprised once you take it for a spin.

What kind of car did you have before? I had a 95 Mustang GT. My mustang is quick and my xB is fast. Anything can go fast once you get going. It's a great car for what it is. I don't miss the horsepower very much. It's a great car. Getcha one!

first off, the engine isnt much ill agree but ive never consider it underpowered, with a group of kids in my car i had no problem going up hills etc. i went to vegas in it with 4 other ppl in it and it just zoomed right along. secondly my bestfriends dad is 6'5 and 280 lbs. he sat in the back seat and we drove to the store and he was fine. and i was even gangsta riding my seat. this little bugger is roomier than an astro van. youll be SO suprised, ive had ppl come up to my car and be like "why do you even like this ugly thing" i tell em to hop inside, next thing they say is " so how much is this cool little guy". never had someone get in and be disappointed. ever.

One of my geekier friends compaired the car to the TARDIS (check out a Dr. Who website to figure out the joke).

It looks tiny, and it is, but it feels enormous when you are in it. My brother is over 6 feet tall, my friend ryan is around 6 foot, neither are small people as you can see. But they both fit in the back with no problems, and I never had to move my seat forward. So we ended up with 4 people in the car, 4 camping chairs, a small cooler and 2 backpacks. No one even noticed all the crap in the car with us...As it was behind the back seat.

The car also has plenty of power. Within an hour of buying the car we were road-tripping to atlanta (4 hours one way, northside actually so it was a little longer). It kept up with my friends F250 superduty and my brothers MS Protege. Would it win a race? Dunno, but it'll do 80mph on the highway all day long and not care.

Lastly, I've never had a problem parking, passing, pulling away at an intersection, merging on the highway or any of the other things you hear people complain about in "underpowered" cars. It has enough pep to pull itself along nicely.

i can fit in the backseat of a subaru impreza 2dr, lol...so im thinking ill be fine

unfortunately...the local toyota dealership doesnt carry these. so ill have to make a trip to a better equipped dealership to get a test drive...

i plan on upgrading it a good bit. headers, intake/exhaust, super charger are on the top of my list

how does it handle?
i drive a full size blazer every day, so to me, a mountianeer handles like a sports car

I'm 6'7" and wear a sz 16 shoe. I have no problem fitting, although 2" more would be great for those long trips on my feet. I dont have my xb yet, but I took it for 2 test drives. The head room is not even a realistic issue...there is just so much of it.
I will definatly be moving the floor frame on the seat back for the modification. This is the only (that I'm aware of) compact car guys like us can fit in comfortably.

If you have the know how, or can get it done, then it is definately a great car. I can see where moving the seat back for the extra long legs would be a benefit, and you have plenty of room behind the seats for the moddification.

As far as pushing you over the fence, thats up to you to decide. Kinda like the newbs who post .. "which wheels should i buy ..." These and other similar questions only you can answer.

Just so you know. It has the most head room than any vehicle sold in the US right now and is 3rd in having the most legroom. Yes more than the almighty Frod Excursion. The only thing this thing is short on is cargo space and the rear seats fold down to take care of that.

drove to a dealership this evening to see one in person....i am quite impressed

i think though ill get a base model and save the 5k$ for supercharger/headers instead of led upgrades lol

i amv ery impressed though...didnt get to test drive, but its the first time ive been able to go over one in person

im wondering if ill have enough room to shift if i get a manual...so if i decide to (75% chance) i too will just move the seat back
