Greetings fellow SCION-ers! Had my first race today!
Last week I purchased a brand new SCION tC. I bought it in Super White (can't have anything too flashy if I want to stretch it's legs sometimes) with the four speed automatic transaxle, which I feel is better than the standard which would spin the tires sometimes when I didn't want it to
.
Boy is this car fast! My previous vehicle was a 1987 HONDA Accord LX that I bought new in 1986, and until now I thought that car had pretty good get-up-and-go. Now that I have the SCION tC, I have a new standard for get-up-and-go
. Since I might drive this car like it's meant to be driven every once in a while, I went to the local Auto shop and bought a high performance air filter. I also wanted to do away with the facory tires (they always try to sell you some cheap crap brand tires with new cars) and I bought some Goodyear GT Touring tires.
Did I mention that I love this car?
I've been putting miles on it to get it out of the break in period, and I think it's pretty much done breaking in.
What I wanted to tell you fellow SCION-ers about was what happened yesterday! I was driving home from work and I stopped at a red light. Then some RICEBOY in some kind of HONDA type-R pulls up next to me. I smiled at him, thinking about how my powerful SCION could make easy work of his little HONDA. When the light turned green he tried to accelerate, but his car just made a lout WHOOOOOSH noise and spun his tires (he should probably look into buying some Goodyear GT's)
I eased onto the accelerator and my SCION cruised past him (you SCION-ers know the feeling!). Once I got to 5 over the speed limit, (that's ticket territory!
) i stopped accelerating, then he WHOOOSHED past me like he was in the front row of the Daytona 500! He just had something to prove against my tC!
.
Once I got home, I told my wife about what happened and she just got a kick out of it!
She said a guy like me driving a car like the SCION is going to attract the attention of the local Rice-boys, and I agree.
Now i'm looking forward to my next Rice-boy encounter, or maybe an encounter with one of my Co-workers that think I'm too old to be driving a sports car
. They drive FORD taurus' mostly, so I know I can beat them too.
While I'm on a roll typing, I was wondering what kind of Hop-up parts I could install to make use of the traction my 4 Speed automatic and Goodyear GT's give me?
Thanks in advance for the advice!

Anyways, I'm new to all of this too, but i would say start with an exhaust. It will give you a nice sound, and it will let the exhaust from the engine exit better. Less pressure being forced through will make it run better. From there, i would say go with an intake (or you might be set with the air filter).
Theres something to start with. Like I said, I'm new too so im still learning. Let me just say welcome, and enjoy your ride. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I will do the best I can to help you out. Like I said, I'm willing to learn anything!
