Default How is the audio/video in the RS3.0? CALLING ALL OWNERS!!

I am a huge fan of Alpine, and have run their headunits for years.

I am just wondering how the overall sound and function is on the RS3.

Are the controls easy to use, and do you have more than just bass and treble adjust?

Do you think you will be upgrading or will you stick with what came stock?

If you have had a multi-amp/componant system in the past how does this compare?

If I had known they would release a box with this setup I might have waited, but I have way too much into mine now to change. (sigh) oh well.

Thanks for your response.

I have only had it for a day, but the Alpine is clean. Could use and amp and sub. The Dolby surround is Dolby Dig. II not 5.1. There is a CSE which I don't know what it stands for but has setting to make the sound better such as speech, music and so on. It comes with steering wheel controls, and remote control. It has bass, treble, bal.,fade, and EQ like the pioneer unit it has nuetral, speech, hear and feel. Buttons are big and easy to find, looks good at night. It is confusing so far with all the different settings but time will fix that. The Sat. part I love cause it got rid of a portable that I kept in my car before. The headphones so far suck, but I don't know if I have a problem or am not doing it right.
Basicly it is a killer head unit that could use some ampage. The speakers sound clean but if you are on the wrong setting things sound like crap. Once amped I will know if I want to keep the speakers or not.

No complaints here so far. Watched a Family Guy DVD on my lunch break, sounded great, better than watching it at home. Only had it for 24 hours, so time will tell how much I'll love it.

cool, can you crank it up without distortion?

Did you trade in your bop for the RS3?? If so what kind of trade did they give you.

yes, I did trade my BOP in. I got 10,300 because there was damage done to the BOP. As for cranking it up without distortion, you have to mess around with the settings a bit (still getting used to all the buttons), but after you have everything set right, you can max it out no problem.

How would you compare the sound of the stock head unit in your BOP xB with the new RS 3.0 A/V system?

It's a lot nicer, but I agree with the guy above that an amp & sub would make the whole system unbelieveable for an almost stock setup.

Just to clarify, when you say adding an amp and a sub, you mean that the sound quality of the system is great but that it could use a sub and an amp for the sub to increase the bass response? i.e not that the existing speakers need an amp..

Thanks,
Drel

You wouldn't happen to have a picture of the remote that comes with it would you? I didn't even know it had one until I read a post where someone said that it had both radio controls on the steering wheel and also a seperate remote control.

Interesting the new xB has an Alpine deck, But it looks like someting from an early ninties Nissan with it's button configuration. But I bet it sounds better than the Pioneer radio, heck anything sounds better than that radio. Even silence. I replaced my radio two days after I got the car.

Awesome. I can't wait to the see the pics. I'm definately leaning towards going ahead and just getting the RS 3.0. I wonder if you can still get the leather steering wheel option now that they've added the radio controls on the steering wheel?

I think the price is about 16880 for a manual, and 17680 for an auto, both with no extra options beyond the RS 3.0 package. You'll have to add tax and title to that and any documentation fees if your dealer charges them. I've noticed that if I shop around, while they all sell for the same price retail price on the vehicle, I've found 1 or 2 dealerships that charge very little or no documentation fees.

I believe this thread is about RS 3.0 prices and what everyone paid:

One thing for sure the Alpine speakers have a better bass than the stock set up. The volume is weird and goes to like 63 and as mentioned if you have things set up right it goes to the top with no distortion, so with an amp you will feed a very clean signal. The XM is super clear, like CDs. Dolby digital stereo from DVD's sounds very good, but not using the Dolby Pro Logic II, better using the CSE settings. PCM stereo probably sounds the weakest but very good.
