It's unfortunate that the Kelley Blue Book doesn't have all of the updated and new releases in it...They usually include the same model years (like the early 04's) by the end of Summer when the early new model year vehicles are released...

Try and hold onto your box until then if possible...I'm sure it won't depriciate much...Regardless of what some people might tell you, Scions are considered Toyotas, and from what I've known, Toyota has a pretty good resale value right up there with the best of them...

But seriously, level with us...Your trading the box for the TC aren't you??? :D

whats up stylis ive been meaning to go and see you guys at your shop. two of my buddies work at auto innovations, and there always talking good stuff about the scions they see out there. my buddies drive a acura CL type s and the other use to drive a wrx but know drives a protege 5. the reason i was looking for a price was im looking to trade it in for a 3rd gen twin turbo rx7 or a twin turbo 4th gen supra. im just thinking! the thing is i put down 6 grand for a down payment, paid 13.5 for a moon roof, another $1100 for extended warrrenty untill 100,000 miles, $800 for full maintanace package untill 100,000 miles. so i dont know how much i could sell it for or do you guys think i pretty much lost my ___ on this deal  .
give me your opinion and i hope to see you guys around.

yeah, from what they've done in the past. Usually the first year after a car comes out is the biggest hit on depreciation. I would expect probably about a $3,000 drop from MSRP. That is their track record with most cars of this type (reliable japanse economy i.e CIVIC, COROLLA, ECHO, etc. under 17,000). I can't imagine why anyone would want to get rid of their box ...at least, yet.

Yeah, you mean Jamie and manuel! I know them, in fact Manuel just got a new pocket bike! Don't get an RX7! Those things suck for smog and when they break down good luck finding a good mechanic that can tune it up properly. In the mechanic world, those cars are on the sh*t list. The scion on the other hand can be maintained and every mechanic will not charge you an arm and a leg to fix it. Don't go to the Rotary motor , those things suck! <--Mechanic Point of view.

You could pick up a 2nd gen RX-7 or 3rd gen Supra for less then $1000 (project car) and take your time fixing it up.

Actually, I have 2 '88 Supras, 3 engines and so on for them. Got one of the supras for free and paid $650 for the other.

I'll have about $5000 into the car when I'm done, but it'll be a nice, high power, semi-streetable (though still legal), drift car. And there are few of them out there done nice, so it's also kinda unique.

My xB is my daily driver, it's comfortable, has a warrenty and gets good gas mileage. Tuned up turbo cars can be rather twitchy, I'd rather be able to drive it hard and, if ti breaks, I still have a ride to work.

yeah jaime and emanuel are the buddies i was talking about, if you see them tell them ralph said whats up! dont tell them about the trading for a new car its just a thought. and the whole rx7 thing was just because i think there bad ___ but i would rather go with a supra and make it a single turbo. i just might wait a year and wait untill i get a better job and appriciate the scion alittle more. my bigist thing witht the scion is that its only a 1.5 and i wish it was at least a six cylindar, but other than that its cool. 8)

Resale value has to do with rebates on new, demand, condition, miles, etc. Right now scion that are going through the auction around the USA are going for stupid money. Yes, they will drop in value, but you will be suprised that with the demand of the vehicle the resale will still be high!.. Unlike the civic, corolla, and most other cars that you see lots of.

Yeah I agree about the 1.5, but hey it was your choice to buy the car. Don't worry i won't tell them  Well, I hope you don't sell the box, but if you do that would be a loss of a memeber for us. :( Hope you come over for a meet sometime at least, we are gonna be in union city next week. PM me for details. :D

i am just saying that 10% below MSRP is being pretty optimistic for KBB to value them at.....

what i find hard to believe is that the xB and xA are almost a year old and KBB still has no resale values.....pretty sad for one of the standard references for reselling cars....
