Oh yeah.. did you ever get down to one of them? They are a blast.. What was the last number we had? I thought it was over 50+ Scions..

Okay, here's the thing with that -

Last BBQ, the people who signed up to bring anything that was actually to be BBQed (ie, ALL OF THE MEAT) either didn't show up or didn't bring it.

Aside from that, DJ wants to hang up his BBQ hat, which is totally understandable, and passed the mic to me.

In order to do a BBQ this time around, and have it be NOT a loss for some people like last time, I'd ask that everyone pays me $5 or $10 a head well in advance of the festivities, and for some people to volunteer for some of the stuff that has to be done.

Sounds reasonable! Well lets get that ball rollin.. spring is only right around the corner.. besides.. the further out we plan it, the better chances of getting a bigger turn-out.

And just for the record, the point of the "cover charge" is so that no one has to be responsible for bringing any food. After paying for the shelter, all the money that comes in goes back out to paying for the food and supplies that we'll need.

Ouch, that's over 4 hours from us. When I saw all the references to the Outher Banks in North Carolina I was more optimistic. We are in Virginia, in the Hampton Roads area. I want to go to something like that, but that's a long drive, especially with two kids.

the last BBQ we had people drive from Connecticut, PA and NY state. They all said the drive was worth it.

The reference to OBX was for my vacation that I take each year. Sorry if I misled you. :)

It may not take you over 4 hours. It takes me a little less than 4 hours to get to Kill Devil Hills, NC. The park is about 30 minutes west of me here in MD.

I've got an idea. We always do a raffle, but to make it a little more fun, how about we have a little contest?

When you arrive, you are given 3 cards per car. One has an xA on it, one has an xB on it, and one has a tC on it. At some designated time in the afternoon, every Scion owner will write down the license plate number of their favorite xA, xB, and tC. At the end of the allotted amount of time, the votes will be tallied and awards wil be given to the "voter's choice" for each category.

It'll be like a mini-car show, only everyone's opinion will count, and you don't need to give the judge head to win.

If anyone would be interested in doing something like this, I do not mind taking the time to plan it out.

when i was still with scion east and we put on our first show at ripkin stadum in aberdeen. we did a tug-o-war there. it was fun... we had probably 30 people on each ends of the rope

first, thanks to Zach for gettin' "my boy" danny gorman straight on my name! second, danny saw me for the first time actually "working" the other day in a suit and tie, and surprised he hasn't called me out already, so figured i'd beat him to the punch.
but more importantly, about the BBQ! i am working with HFS to try to have them come to the event and do a live remote! secondly, we will be providing CRazY amounts of swag for the event. i addition to tug-o-war, i think some ultimate frisbee or tag/tackle football may be in order (not taking danny on my team). third (man this definitely is coming from the factory guy - all organized and all), we will also be providing a few "high end" prizes (trust me, very nice, very LIMITED edition items) for raffles if we can come to agreement on a local charity or someone involved with the scion community to which we can give the proceeds. we're saving you the 10 bucks for the deal, so lets get it to someone who needs it.
finally, those of you coming from north of baltimore, we should find a spot to meet and get the rides cleaned and roll out together. i am moving back to bel air soon, definitely before the bbq, so we can do it at my house, if that is not too far out of the way. or, if one of my dealerships in the baltimore area happens to be checking this thread, maybe they will offer up their car wash / clean up bays for our use?!?!
