Default Reviews of TC on edmunds.com

I was reading the reviews of the TC on edmunds.com, and I noticed that people that own the automatic are much happier than people that own the manual version. Is this because the automatic is quieter on the freeway? Or better gas mileage? Any thoughts as I decide which model to buy?

I have an '06 Automatic tC. I'm happy with it. I got an automatic transmission for the following reasons.

#1. I'm lazy.
#2. I usually have my mobile or a hamburger in my right hand while I drive.
#3. The tC gets slightly better gas milage as an automatic.
#4. The automatic shifter looks nicer.

If your looking into a tC for street racing, go for a manual. Otherwise stick with an auto tranny.

Many people mod their cars to look good and many mod their cars to go fast. I mod to look good, so I am getting an Automatic. The tC is already fast enough for me and I don't plan of drag racing anytime soon with my tC.

i have the automatic, and i believe its perfect for what it is.
It gets slightly better gas mileage than the manual, and the shifts are butter smooth. I also live in the city and as much as people say its easy to cope with driving a stick, i still find it pretty annoying.

The only reason i can imagine why people arent satisfied with the 5 speed, is because the gears are too close together. If you're doing a lot of city driving you will be CONSTANTLY shifting.

Auto and love it. City driving sux in a stick. I commute in this car and on the weekends just take it easy and go places. Don't want the hassle of the shifting.
If I had a weekend car for playing in the canyons, it'd be a stick, otherwise, I love the auto tC.

auto is so boring! I dont find it fun to just sit and drive with one foot to do gas and brake. I love my sticks and I would never go back to auto (which is my first car). I do understand that many people have different opinion either they live manual or auto. Manual is mostly when people love to control the power to race or have fun shifting the gear.

This is a simple answer.

Drunk boys and girls don't want to bother with shifting just to get home, thus happy campers. I love my tC! That's the American Mentality. Remeber not everyone who buys a tC is as responsible or involved with the tuner scene.

it really depends on your life style...also if you want performance then jus know that the manual has 144 whp while the auto only has 122 whp...thas a big diff...i have the auto and love it because it suits me...its all up to you

I drive in the city and honestly dont even notice it in my 5 spd.. but I havebeen driving stick my whole life... love it. It is just second nature for me, so I dont notice the shifting really. I like the short gears, it makes the car perform better. I dont race or even drive it overly hard, but I still like being able to go when I want to. Some like autos, some like manuals.. it really is preference for the average driver. Nothing wrong with either.

I like manual, but for my first daily car that I buy with my own money, i'll get Automatic. My girlfriend has a Honda Civic Manual, so whenever I feel like driving a Manual, I'll take hers.

I agree with the others.....whatever suits your lifestyle and driving habits. If I was in Chicago or NYC or other big city, I might want an auto for stop and go traffic.
I, however, prefer a manual trans in ANY car I drive. I feel more in control, and they are way more fun to drive . Plus, it's easier to burn 'em off!!!

I drive a manual, I don't race. I do like the control. And stop and go traffic (which I experience hardcore once a week) isn't a big deal with this light clutch.

You ride an automatic, you drive a manual.

We came equipped with two hands and two feet... why use only half of the equipment?
