Default My tC decided not to let me speed at any zone!

1)I have just encountered a problem with my tC yesterday. Woke up in the morning trying to turn the car on, and the car would not let me accelerate when I step on the gas padal. It would only slowly goes up to 10mph, whenever I put it into R or D gear, it would jerk a little, kinda hard as well. Anyone know why?

2)Dont know what happened, but I still drove 10 miles with 5-10mph speed to the dealership. Dealership required me to leave the car at the dealership overnight. But I didnt get a free loaner car or rental. wtf?

It might be the gas pedal sensor. It happened to my caravan when i first bought it and had it covered under warranty. Hope it gets fixed soon.

pray its what he said^. If your rpm's still did move all the way to redline, than its most likely your transmission.

poop then...i guess its the transmission. When I turn the car on, the rpm still goes all the way to the redline and comeback down. Occasionally, the rpm does move between 1500-2000rpm, but most of the time, it constantly stays at 1500rpm.

I have had a couple newer 4 Cyl Camrys come thru our shop recently with a similar problem. They both needed a new throttle body. Now that they use all of this electronic stuff like pedal position sensors, throttle posistion sensors, and throttle by wire, we are seeing some problems like this. If anything is wrong in any of the sensors, they will only allow the throttle to open a very small amount and you will experience very limited performance.
Hopefully, that's all it is and you're still under warranty! Not sure why they didn't give you a car.

thx for your reply rick. at least that gives me a little thing to ease my mind. I was so scared when the car wouldnt accelerate. yea...i was kinda ____ed off when they didnt give me a rental, but they promise will let me know whats wrong on monday. hopefully i'll get an answer from them. If they dont give me a free rental, i'll take it to another dealership that would.

I would *love* to see someone come out with a plain old cable for the gas pedal (with a workaround to keep the CEL off), so I didn't have to depend on so much electronic cr*p.

That sux they don't even give you a loner. My car keeps dieing when you hit the gas. I took it to the dealer and the service department wasn't open to get me a loner. So, they let me rent a Xb for free. You should definetly complain.

Your engine doesn't actually rev up all the way to redline when you turn your car on, all the guages just do that for kicks. They were saying that if your car was up at the redline while you were driving at 10-15 mph, then something was seriously wrong with the transmission. I think it was the electronics.

oh no no no, some misunderstanding here! I'm sure we all know that the the rpm rev up to the redline when we start our cars is just some kicks

I learned this when I was selling cars..

I am no expert so don't get mad if I use the wrong terms you should get the idea....

We have a system in our cars that's like a fail safe....if something goes wrong with the throttle body or just something in between the gas petal and the engine, to the point where the car cant uses the system. You can still drive but only at vary slow speeds (10MPH)

You should have everything under warranty.

The same thing happened to me! The car when reved would be very ruff and the car wouldn't go fast at all. However i had a cel and it turned out to be the MAF. hopefully that is all is wrong with yours. If it is the Throttle body that wouldn't be a hard fix either, just hope they have the part instock or they can fix the one that is on your car. Let us know what happens on Monday!

Haha ok, guess we just misunderstood. I was starting to think that you were the least car-inclined person to come to the board since the "my car doesn't idle at 0 rpm" thread was posted

u wont get a free loaner becuz no one is sure of the problem yet
upfront they should have told you if you wanted a car to drive, you would have to pay for the first day unless the issue was warranty related/vehicle was unsafe to drive on

but for something like this, with the vehicle being very hard to drive IMO they should have given u something, i mean come on now....
