Where are you going to get the motor? I'd guess that'd would be the first and most expensive part. Then you're looking at hours of shop time.

Anything's possible but not very feasible. If you're doing it for gas savings, the xB is supposed to average around $1,200 a year in fuel costs. Assuming you save half, how many years and miles are you going to have to drive it to break even... 15 years?

There are several findings now that the gas savings on hybrid cars are really no better than on these type of cars. i wouldn't bother with a mod like that.

View this link on hybrid numbers being grossly inflated:

Oh, you'll just need the gas motor, electric motor, transmission (it's a CVT, so expect to pay some BIG bucks), all of the electrical wiring, the battery pack (where are you going to put that - it's HUGE) and the electrical management system.

In other wards, it's never gonna happen.

Glad to do my part to put dumb ideas to rest.

Which is why you buy a Honda Insight - almost all owners get near the 68mpg numbers, and some have even gotten as high as 90mpg on some trips: check out insightcentral.net's forums!
