exactly what are TWM stage 2 made out of becuase i and debating whihc shifter i shoud get either the twm stage 2 or the b&m which is CNC machined aluminum

from driving my tC with TMW shifter in since the day it came out
and driving other tC's with b&m shifters, i have to say im glad i made the choice i did

Does it really matter what the material is? Yea, it needs to be hard, but I have yet to hear of anyone bending a shifter, especially a short shifter (you need more leverage to bend a shorter bar). It gets covered up anyway by the boot and shift knob.

I've got the TWM Stage Two with their flat-black Bomber weighted shift knob and haven't regretted it once. It's definitely the one to go with.

Hi guys, I would like to reply to the question about the material used.

All of our shifter are made out of Carbon steel 1020. Strong and hard, it's perfect for the security factor we want to keep on our parts. On the other hand, with the same geometry (dimensions), aluminium can't be used on a part that could break by fatigue. That's an important thing to take into consideration when we design a part. Aluminium can break if an alternative force is applied over a certain period of time. Steel won't, with the proper design.

That's the reason why we use steel instead of aluminium. Aluminium is way cheaper to produce because of the lower cost and because the material is easier to cut through.

It's very important to design the part according the change in geomtry, because the bending moment at the pivot point on a short shifter sometimes is twice as the one we find on the stock shifter.
