XBman 05-14-2004, 05:32 PM Hey all, Just wondering.... who here install's their own parts? who taked em to the dealer? hahajoey 05-14-2004, 05:41 PM ive personally lowered a xb 3 times. i put hids on a xb 3 times. and i helped put tein wagon dampers on a xb. i've installed wheels on a xb a few times as well. i don't take it anywhere unless i dont have the tools to do something(like muffler work) scionspecialistvegas 05-14-2004, 05:43 PM I install my own stuff, and I help my friends and fellow club members, and anyone who pm's me, I will help them to. Bill Besk_one 05-14-2004, 05:44 PM i've installed or helped install everyhting on my car intake, headers, cathodes, springs, audio, radiator hose kit, car computer... i really enjoy it, i think it's much more fun when you do it yourself :) - Brian Phiber0p 05-14-2004, 05:45 PM I do all of my own work. I do have alot of resources to utilize, but I find it difficult to pay someone 60 + dollars an hour to do the same work I can do. Hell, if I could make my own gasoline I would do that too. 2.10 a gal here now. XBman 05-14-2004, 05:46 PM yeah i do my own 2 dgHotLava 05-14-2004, 05:58 PM i do all my own work. don't like others touching my stuff. they might break something and try to cover it up. if i break it, i know about it and can fix it. i feel mor at ease knowing exactly what is right or wrong with my car and what has been done to it. scionxbny 05-14-2004, 05:59 PM It all depends. I pretty much will do anything that doesn't involve putting a car up on a lift. I tend not to f around with electrical stuff though. Magnus 05-14-2004, 06:01 PM Warenty issues and the free oil changes are the only time mine will ever see a toyota mechanic. I do all my own work on my other vehicals and this will be no diffrent. JDMxB 05-14-2004, 06:08 PM Have done everything myself with a help of a few friends. You learn more about your vehicle if you do it yourself, and save money too. If i ever had a question about an install, Scionlife.com was just a few clicks away to help with answers. squirrel 05-14-2004, 06:12 PM It all depends on what the mod is and how much time I have at the moment. randode 05-14-2004, 06:58 PM 32 spring installs! Sid_xBicious 05-14-2004, 07:30 PM ive personally lowered a xb 3 times. i put hids on a xb 3 times. and i helped put tein wagon dampers on a xb. i've installed wheels on a xb a few times as well. i don't take it anywhere unless i dont have the tools to do something(like muffler work) this is basically how i define a true Modder!, much respect for you'all. just like myself, i tried to do my own mod, if its beyond tools, and my hands capability. my 2nd true modder would be those that has mad ideas, ex. wing brake light mod, yes he was helped by a shop, but its the idea and searching that counts. but to those that had put thier cathode lights, led, fog lights by someone else, well you have $$ to spend(sit & wait) then walla!!!! dinkjs 05-14-2004, 09:30 PM I have slaves that do all my work....and I have a butler to answer the door...free labor  Magnus 05-14-2004, 09:34 PM so cause I bought a hot lava with my stuff factiry installed I dont know how to use tools? Dude I've been working on cars for the past 14 years. That way if something breaks down the road I know how to remove it, reinstall the stock piece and take into the dealership for warrenty repair! 8) Max2k 05-14-2004, 11:48 PM All me baby. by the way grammer nazi note: "walla" is spelled "viola!" 05-16-2004, 08:40 PM Always do my own work and install everything I buy or make! Toyota_Kitten 05-17-2004, 03:50 AM who installs thier own parts.... answer: who doesn't? i install my own parts and if i ever get a bit confused about sumthin... my billy helps me. but most of it is a no brainer, unless i get into electrical stuff... but mechanically... In fact, most of the posts here are to find out how to install stuff... :) Guess I'll chime in as I have installed my springs & alarm (from ScionSpecialistVegas), amp & sub, & new shiftknob! HotBox 05-17-2004, 04:19 AM ill do my own work unless im lazy or dont have the proper tools. i took the swaysbars to get installed at the dealer just cause they had the lift other then that i woulda did it myself |
