Brake problems
Has anyone had a problem with there brakes squealing?? My car only has 6500 miles on it and the dealership has already had to turn the rotors!! I have never heard of this having to be done at such low mileage. Also when my brakes are wet the feel as if they are grinding. Is anyone else having these issues??

I do park my car outside, but I don't brake that hard. I ussually down shift while braking. I just don't understand why there are soooo many issues with this car. I owned a 2001 acura integra and only replaced the brakes once in the 85000 miles that i owned it, and the same for a 99 mustang that i owned. When producing an affordable car did toyota skip on quality parts?
i had to replace my stock pads every 6-7k miles. it was stupid and i wasnt driving hard.
since then i switched to porterfield r4-s pads, and they've lasted well over 12k so far, and i autocross with them frequently.

but then again, some friends with tc's say they hadnt replaced them till 15. so.... i dunno
but i feel we got ripped somehow.
oh and grindy feelings in rain are normal. its the pad just creating more friction despite the water in between. i should also say, the r4-s pads are not quiet when they're cold. they make grindy noises and dont stop as well until they're hot, as they're made of carbon kevlar, which sticks better with heat. its annoying sometimes, but ill deal if it lasts longer, right?

sooooo many issues? what issues have you had?
My pads are still fine after 30k. It has nothing to do with "quality" parts. Are they worn out or just squealing? If they are just squealing then your dealer most likely wasted thier time machining the rotors. Moderm brake pads are prone to squealing at times. It is the make up of the pads. I have seen brand new mercedes that sound like nails on chalkboards while stopping. They make products to help reduce it. Some work better than others. Mine do it sometimes when I first start driving.. but they stop after a few times using them. As far as people having to replace them every 6-7k... what are you doing to your brakes????
the only time I have seen pads go that quick on a new car is people who drive autos and brake with the wrong foot (the left foot). Some tend to leave it resting on the brake pedal all the time. This can cause some contact with rotor, which overheats and practically crystalizes the pad.. they begin falling apart.

yea.. i have the same complaint about my brakes squealing when i just come to a stop , it sucks... i'm going to bring it to the dealer to see what's up when i get to 20k, i kidna just want to get new brake pads to see if they'll solve the problem
the wear indicator will squeal if the brakes are low.. but it will squeal when you are not pushing the brakes and most of the time not squeal when you push the brakes... i have 16k and not problems... i would think it is your driving habits...but i could be wrong...
I am going to be looking into better brake options. The dealership said that my rear brakes showed a lot of wear. I find that kinda interesting, bc you would think with all of the wieght shifting to the front it would be the front rotors worn down.
well depending on the car, everytime you brake.. most of the braking happens on the front and some on the back.. so depending on how you drive this wouldn't be unresonable... especially if the front ones went out so quickly..
