My xB has the dealer installed AEM cold air induction.
Is there an 'easy' way to remove the air filter for cleaning,?
It looks like I need to remove the battery to get to the filter...
Any way about it, a real knuckle buster.
Any ideas or experiences?

Thanks for the idea, it probably looks more difficult than it will be. As for the service interval, I drive a lot. It'll need attention soon and I have the cleaning kit.

No, the filter requires cleaning, not changing, every 30,000 miles (unless under severe conditions), but I'm conservative when it comes to maintainence. I've got just over 20K trouble-free miles on my xB and plan to keep it that way.

I believe its really a K&N filter on the AEM, as is the case with most intakes. Usually you can go 30,000 to 50,000 on these filters. You can just clean it or replace it. I would reccomend replacing it becuase interms of cost, the cleaning kit is about the same price as a brand new filter. I belive just loosening the clamp that holds the filter on and you can twist and slide the filter off.

A filter is about 3-5x as much as a cleaning kit.
