Default Questions about shaved door handles.

Hey everyone, I appologize in advance if this topic as already been covered. But I tried my hardest to search alot of terms and couldn't come up with any info. Well the skinny is that... I'm looking to shave my door handles. And I wasn't sure what parts exactly to get. I saw on one website they had this 40lbs kit... But is it just me or does that sound like alot of force? I just want our doors to open a little and not fly into something I park next to lol.

PS: Bonus question... if anyone can direct me to a reputable website to purchase such a kit would be even sweeter. Thank you.

I believe the 40 lbs is the pull rating for the solenoid. That's how much pressure it exerts to unlatch the door not how much it pushes the door out when it's unlatched. The normal springs (or whatever) in the door jambs still take care of that.

Thank you both of the replies. Now that we have the basics, anyone out there know what's the correct poundage needed for our doors? I see 15, 35, 40, 45 and even 110lbs out there lol.

35 or 40 will both work well.
