On the subject of Powder Coating, is it feasible to try to get my brake drums and calipers powder coated? Would it cause problems? How difficult would it be to remove the calipers for that? Is it overkill? Part of the reason is I'm trying to match the spring color and they are powder coated and I want as close a match as possible.

Also any idea on costs for something like this? Over $100? $200? More? :cry:

it's pretty simple to paint brake calipers..u don't need powder coating.

It wouldn't be a big deal to get these powder coated. It shouldn't cause problems at all....the powder coater just has to take care so as the parts that shouldn't be powder coated aren't....ie the threads on the calipers...etc....

I think it would be a better option than paint because it's much less prone to cracking and chipping and is "baked on" so it'll be more heat resistant...

I would figure you could get these done for well under $200.....

The main cost will be the care they need to take protecting the parts that don't get powder coated...so the calipers will cost more to have done than the drums

Thanks for the input, folks. Very helpful. I like the paint idea for the DIY and ease, but that yellow is so pale i don't think it will match well, atleast from looking online. That's why i was leaning towards the Powder... but not having the Box for a few days would suck too...

But for $40 bucks it might be worth a try and I could always get them powdered later if it sucks. Hmmm, what to do what to do...

you must be crazy. powder coating cost much more than that. there is alot that has to be done in the process and it might run you about 200 per wheel if not more.

The calipers aren't too expensive, but the wheels are rather pricey - 125 each.
