Hello,

I had a few chances to run my car in the 1/8 mile.. all together I've probably ran it about 20 times.. so far my best 1/8 mile run is 10.15 @ 71.5MPH, this was with a 2.44 60' time.

Normally I was running a 10.2 with a 2.5 60' time, always above 70mph..

I only have a CAI, header, and TWM short shifter.. everything else is stock (including the tires)..
I've tryed to lower the pressure, keep the pressure the same... I've tryed burnouts, or not burning out.. I've tryed dropping the clutch, I've tryed slipping the clutch.. I've tryed any RPM from 1,500 - 3,000..

When I'm inside the car, it reallys seems like it's launching good.. I spin alot in the beginning of first then just a little bit of hopping towards the end of first.. but still nothing better then a 2.4 60' (normally 2.5's)

It's really starting to bother me because I see car's run down the track all night hitting high 9's with a trap speed that is lower then my 71mph. I know the car has the power to hit a high 9, I just can't launch it.

Would it be better for me to get new tires or the ingalls stiffy?

Any information would be great.

Try tweaking your launch.

You shouldn't "spin a lot in the beginning and hop near the end of first". It should actually sound like short bursts of screeches and distorted revving from your car. Feather the gas (let it on and off according to how much traction you feel the car is getting), rather than just flooring it or keeping the gas in the same spot.

I revv to somewhere around 3300 rpm before the lights and feather it from there.

I've got only an intake, exhaust, shortshifter (adds up to less power than yours), and on my first day out on the track (yesterday, actually), I did 12 runs and did a 2.226 second 60' and a 9.944 second 1/8. Considering this run got me my best 1/4 time (15.4), I'd say the 60' is key to getting a better 1/8 and 1/4 time.

Good luck, practice hard.

It sucks living in Iowa. I want to race now, but the tracks are closed.

I did a little better last time I went..

reaction: .6977
60 ft.: 2.3596
330 ft.: 6.5286
1/8 et: 10.0277
1/8 mph: 71.35

I think I really need new tires..

I actually think using dull tires helps.
Less treads=more surface area of rubber to the ground
More surface area touching ground + heat from burning out = better traction

my thought.

Snow and ice. I think they open up around April. Tracks are usually open through October. I hate snow.

Last year when I took the box to the track I staged the car and pulled up til the top staging light goes out pull the e-brake put the car in first rev the engine to 2000 rpm when the last yellow light goes out let down the brake and go. And never do a burnout on tires with tread all it does is put water in the staging area for the next guy.
