Default Lag in Fuel Tank Sensor when Refueling

Do you guys notice that whenever we fill up the gas tank, the calibration lags? It seems that the needle doesn't follow exactly to what is happening in the gas tank. That's the first thing I noticed when I filled my car for the very first time. Because the first car that I drove didn't do it, so I thought this was very strange.

Every car I have had does that. It takes a few moments for the tank to show full once the pump clicks off. Besides, aren't you supposed to turn off your engine while refueling?

you can turn the ignition to "on" and the needle will still move just not as fast as it should i noticed this too but i thought i was the only one... the way i see it is if its not negative to the overall well being of my car (which this is not really) then why worry about it??? this really doesn't bother me tho...

it doesn't bother me at all, it's just that the first car i drove calibrated on time, so i kinda assumed that all cars would too. but this is my 2nd car, so that's why it was strange to see that the calibration was lagging.

it is an anti-slosh feature built into it...(too keep a better reading when cornering fast or braking hard. stops the low fuel light from blinking during that)

if you turn off the car (not in acc or on, but completly off) then turn the key back on, it will initialize very fast.

Count on your future cars being very different in many ways, compared to your first two. They're all different, and changing all the time. Have fun!

Since we're talking about gas and the fuel gauge, has anyone noticed that when you turn your car on, the gas gauge seems to have gone down since you shut it off? That could verywell just be me.

could be that since you are driving, the gas gets washed around in the tank causing the sensor to sense more gas than when all the gas has settled down and is stable. i on the other hand, if i park my car when my gas warning light is on, the next day, it goes off, but goes on again after a while.....

i hate the gauges on my moms sienna and dads tundra, they take about 4 minutes of driving to get up to full after filling up.
