Those with Auto, are you happy with your tranny decision?
This is not a Manual vs Auto thread. I just want to know how the Automatic drivers feel with the transmission they they bought. Would you switch it with a Manual if you could? Do you have any problems with the Auto tranny? Do you know how to drive Manual? Just your opinion of the automatic.
Again, no flaming or saying Manual is better and Auto is ___. OK?
Oh and if I can't do this then Mods you guys can delete this...

I have the automatic transmission, and i have no problems whatsoever with it. I do 100% city driving, so the manual is just out of the question for me. Mechanically, we share the same transmission as the camry, so its very rare you'll see a problem. Yes, i know how to drive a manual.
Only regret about the auto transmission is that the supercharger doesnt bolt on without a fit kit that hasnt been released yet. But once it is released, i will be completely satisfied with it.

I have an auto and yes i'm happy with it. I do mostly city driving and, even though i'm putting on some performance mods, it's my daily driver and I rather just cruise than going around racing people
I voted 'no'. I have found the transmission to be fairly jerky. I tried using it like the tiptronic in my Jetta (by moving the gear around the gate to force certain gears, downshift into corners, etc), and I think that may have something to do with it - I probably cooked the ATF.
Overall I am happy with chosing the auto for my 22 mile commute, and I never intended to really race my tC, so I could easily have voted yes. I voted 'no' just for my experience with it. I suppose I am wishing it was something it is not.

speaking as a person who has had the unfortunate loss of my 1st tC (being an automatic) and now currently driving a manual tC now, i can say i was very happy driving my automatic tC.
it was smooth and had enough pick up to my liking... i ignored people saying "oohh.. you should've gotten a manual" crap... and i did admit that they are quicker most times.. but i was still very satisfied.
as for why i chose a manual this time around, it was for two reasons.. one, i wanted to try it out, and two, it was the only one available at the time when i needed a new car.
it took a little while for me to get used to driving a stick (it was my 1st car with stick, but have had prior experience before) and now that i have gotten used to it... it's gotten to be a little more fun i guess... all that... ohh actually driving car.. blah blah... it was worth the time in my case.
and on occasions when switching back to an automatic car after learning to drive stick.. i wonder why i never learned it as early as i should.. and it indeed feels weird for me when i do drive auto again.... there's less to think about... and my left foot always wants to press the clutch in when it's not there.... you can't imagine the paranoid feeling when you're coming to a stop in an auto and you're scared about stalling because your left foot isn't pressing anything...
that's just me... freakin' funny if you think about it..
ultimately... your decision is based on preference... no one should say otherwise... you know more about what your new car will be used for, and where you're going to drive... base your decision on that.... if you want to take that extra time to learn things on a manual car that you don't know (i.e driving on hills... etc..).. then i say go for it... and if you want to drive an auto because it'll make your life easier, then go for it..
but really.... for both experiences i've had with the tranny... it's not really the transmission that made me so happy... it was the fact that i love my car and the community that i was introduced to and continue to be apart of. it's family man... you'll love it.
i'll see you at elk grove tong?

I do a lot of driving, so a manual wont do. Until I upgrade to a Viper, Aston Martin, or Enzo its auto for me.
As for any slipping or any bad occurances with the tranny none to this date. The again the car is like 8 months old and less then 3K miles.

I said no because I really wanted a manual tC.. my car broke down and i needed a car asap.. it would have taken months to get my manual so i just got my auto. I guess I would have voted that i'm in the middle. I think a manual would be more fun. I guess i'm not much help. i'm bored with the auto so thats why i said no
there
there
I enjoy my Auto, the only reason why I kinda wish I had a manual is b/c those bastards got dibs on the Supercharger first...crap!! I just have to be patient and hope Toyota will come through for the summer or at least by next fall...(fingers still crossing) Overall, I love my ride and wouldn't have any other way...
I wish i had a manual, but since my wife hates them, and she drives the Tc alot i had no choice.....but I like it, it has decent pickup and I have no complaints.
but A/T= no turbo
unless someone sells one that works with it.....

i would get a manual if i could. i only have an auto cuz my dad bought the car for me, and he wanted me to have an automatic. and there were no manuals around at the time we bought it. we would have to wait up to 8 weeks! and also he DID buy the car for me, so i guess i cant complain too much. my next car will be a manual in a few years
