At East Coast Toyota in Wood Ridge, N.J., tiny Scion cars are sold even before they are unloaded from the carrier.
Theres a six-week waiting list for the Scion tC, said John Dee, sales manager at the Toyota store, one of the largest in the Northeast. ...
The hottest sellers are the redesigned Lexus IS sedan, Toyota Prius and the Scion tC. They all are spending fewer than 15 days on dealer lots before being sold, according to national sales activity tracked through the first eight weeks of 2006 by J.D. Power and Associates Power Information Network.

PrivateTucker 03-07-2006, 03:47 PM Toyota holds the spot for hottest selling cars, good job!
scionlife 03-07-2006, 03:50 PM I think it's not just that Toyotas are hot right now, its that Toyota knows how to meter the available supply to increase demand. Everyone knows that if you can't get your hands on the car you want you just want it even more!

somethings fishy...
ack154 03-07-2006, 06:54 PM What I think is funny is the dealer my g/f and I got ours from has had at least 3 or 4 (up to 7) tCs on the lot for the past two or three months. Now... they might have restocked and we didn't notice, but I'm pretty sure a couple of them have been there a while.
Doesn't help though when the sales people really aren't "scion" people.
Hot06tC 03-07-2006, 07:23 PM Thats the truth!! I know more than any "Scion Certified" person at our dealership!
zeorai 03-07-2006, 07:23 PM Yeah, that poll doesn't seem to be very genuine. Scions seem to be easy enough to get if you want one. Then again I have to hand it to the Toyota and Scion marketing staff, they've done a very impressive job hyping up the cars.
ack154 03-07-2006, 07:31 PM ^^ I think when you take into account some of the larger areas that are having to order their tCs for every person at a high volume, then average that with a place like around us where the cars might sit there for 3 weeks, you can average down to a good number.
valid377 03-07-2006, 08:14 PM Actually, I thought that to be quite accurate. Up here in NYC, tC are still selling like crazy. A friend of mine interested in a tC was told he had a month waiting period before he can get one from a dealer. I waited 3 months for mine though, but thats a different story..
iyzmi 03-07-2006, 09:23 PM Wow, I always thought the xB was a hotter seller than an xA cuz you see so many of nowadays and so few xA's.
bbcrud 03-07-2006, 09:39 PM Wow, I always thought the xB was a hotter seller than an xA cuz you see so many of nowadays and so few xA's.
They both move pretty well here in Phoenix. But the xB does more volume, almost 3 to 1, over the xB.
daramg 03-07-2006, 09:43 PM Some of the "hot" sellers are misleading, i think, since they are a brand new models (Lucerne, Azera, Sprinter, Civic, etc)
Could it be that Toyota does better demand forecasting and supply chain management than others?
Metro273 03-07-2006, 11:12 PM Hmmm, Nissan isn't even on that list at all... :tap:
Samurai_Hack 03-07-2006, 11:20 PM I'm sure a lot of it has to do with forecasting but everyone's personally experience will be different. In some places they sit, in others they don't. That's why they chart has them averaging 10 days on the lot when I know that I've never seen a tC sit on the lot here for more than 3 days... and I drive by there pretty often....
kungpaosamuraiii 03-07-2006, 11:25 PM One of the dealers here, when I went, just got a new shipment of cars for me to test drive. By the time I left, the car I test drove and one more tC was sold.
SoCal.

that doesn't make sense, but i know what you are saying. around here, it seems like the tCs and xBs get sold really fast, the xAs just sit there.
bushman33 03-08-2006, 04:28 AM Nissan isn't on the list because it is below the minimum standards. I currently have a 03 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V and I'm dying to get a TC because my car is garbage. I've had too many problems with it. Little things too, and I want to go back to something reliable. The only thing stopping me from going down the the dealership tommorrow is (1) I want to get my payoff lower (2) I can't finance the TRD S/C. Once I find a way to solve #2, then I'll get my TC. And no, I'm not going to take out a loan from the bank. I know it's off topic, but that's just my $.02 on Nissan.

So sell Scions on the weekends... Have a new side job...... Make some extra cash....????
ack154 03-08-2006, 11:10 AM ^ Our dealership is only open on Saturdays for weekends. Plus, the commission for Scions is VERY small compared to anything of any other cars on the lot. Like $100 or something.
nightwishkid 03-08-2006, 11:55 AM i live in orlando FL and i got onto the lot to see an xb their were 3 when i got their and their were none leftr and mine was on transit luckaly then i went their like 3 weeks later after i got my car and from the time i parked about 15 people were looking at it lol i said its taken! they were like ohhhh

$150 is the commission. Then if any accessories are purchased with the vehicle those get the salesperson some money too...
totallyliz 03-08-2006, 05:17 PM When I called (didn't visit so they could be just trying to get me there) I was told by Romano Scion in Syracuse Ny they had 8 tCs on the lot ready to go.
yesti 03-08-2006, 08:11 PM when we got our two 05's back in nov '04 we had to wait a couple of weeks to get the ones with the right COLOR AND SIDE AIR BAG option. Otherwise we could've had whatever they had on hand.

Haha... thing is that I'd feel bad about trying to sell the accessories to people b/c I'd be tempted to be like "you know... you could get ALL of these things cheaper online" ... but my wallet would be like "shut up! sell them all you can!"
:silly:

That is so true! Sales get a lot of their commision on accessories. The place where i bought my '05 all their tCs have like a minimum $2000 worth of accessories already put into the car. Like mine has Leather seats, 6 cd changer, scion security and side air bags in it when i walk in. they only had 5 tCs when i called a week before and when i walk in they had two including mine. Same day i bought my BCP 05, another guy is looking at the SSM. The sales who sold me the car was actually from toyota not scion and he told me most of them get only $500 commision on all scions.
YourNameHere 03-09-2006, 04:31 PM the dealer i got mine RS3 from doesnt keep any scions on the lot. which that made it really ahrd to get a test drive in a 5spd because if they did order one they got an auto cause they sell them faster. at most they have one (normaly an xB) i have never seen a tC or xA avaible for a test drive. I think that is how the number is so low cause they report the car on the lot of say 2 days. Its a pretty big dealer, the only toyota dealer for 30 miles in any direction.
yesti 03-09-2006, 11:04 PM I would never buy a car without test driving one but I know people who have. Gotta love dealer politics.
bubblemyster 03-10-2006, 09:56 AM but wouldn't this also have to do with the fact that scions are built to order cars for the most parts, so when cars are dropped off, most of them are already spoken for. no?So its a in and out deal. Just my opinion
yesti 03-10-2006, 07:32 PM my dealership had 2 tC's, a xB and a xA to test drive. I got the xB as a loaner when they were fixing my poorly dealer installed sway bar. Fun car, i must say. Just needs vvtli ;)
