I have already read other posts related to my topic, but they were sort of outdated. So i am going to re-explain my problem. I have a 2005 Tc with 40,000 miles on it. The brake light just recently starting flashing (never stays lit). I checked my rotors, pads, and brake fluid and all are fine. Has anyone else had this happen to them recently.

 

Is it the symbol for low tire pressure? If so check your pressure and reset it.

Do you have a 5 spd? B/c it sounds like the ebrake handle isn't all the way down. And maybe it's bouncing when you're driving - hence the flashing of the light.

You might just have to have the handle adjusted.

 

Ya... if you're talking about this symbol: ( ! ) - like in your subject... that's the tire pressure light.

 

take it to the dealership and have them fix it.after all thats a warranty is for

 

add brake fluid , u will be surprised .

 

Well, in order for brake fluid to help here, he needs to put it in his tires!

It means you need new brake pads, I was having the same problems and I added brake fluid and went away, but sice the brake fluid was low, it means I need to change my front brake pads, BTW, I have 54K miles and I have only changed my brakes once.

 

like said above (!) is the tire pressure light... all the light codes are in your cars manual

if it's the word BRAKE - then its the ebrake

 

I am aware of waht the tire pressure guage looks like and it is not that. The word brake starts flashing when i brake and after i push the gas and let off the light goes away. I do not see how it could be the brake fluid when I have checked it and there is more than enough in there. I do not have a manual trans. So I am not always using the parking brake. I am completely confused.

 

Maybe a brake light is out?

 

Well, the eBrake handle for the auto is likely in the same place as the 5spd... so it could be the handle still. I'd make sure it's down all the way. The BRAKE light comes on when that handle is up. So it's either not down all of the way or needs to be tightened.

If it's coming on when you press the gas, it's probably b/c that's when momentum might be pushing the handle up a little... then when you let off, the handle falls back down.

 

I have bben getting that light on mine, too. Every time it's been my fault because I didn't have the e-brake lever all the way down.

when was the last time you had a brake job done? more than likely it's due to a low fluid level...which would cause the fluid to slosh back and forth while both stopping and going.

 

If it really bothers you, use your warranty.

 

your brake pads are dying,

so the brake fluid runs low when the brake pads are thin.

it means its near time to change your pads.
dont believe me? keep driving until ull hear ur brakes squeal.

 

Mine does it too.. I have over 60K miles and I have never changed out my pads, and I know my tire pressure light is on as well... bah.. when I get money I'll get it fixed..

 

yep i had the same issue like at 18k miles though lol i need to lay off the brakes

 

as stated before, i had this problem, everytime i accelerated harder than usual the red "brake" light would flash. took it to the dealer, and they topped off the fluid, and the problem disappeared.

 

same here... had it at around 20K miles

didn't happen every time, but once in a while
