I'm thinking of getting either the B&M or TRD short shifter and wanted to know from those who have a short shifter if it's worth it. I believe most of the short shifters reduce throw by 30%. are there any that do better? and what's better, the ones that replace just the metal parts of the shifter or one that replaces the whole assembly?

thanks for any input you might have,
Bill

Ha Ha thats funny B, i just might be inpossesion of a Perrin Short shifter, that was sent to me insteadd of a Perrin Pulley. Some one at the shop asked why i didnt try to sell it to you, hummm. But i told the copmany that i would send it back to them. Just thought you would enjoy the laugh. We still on for Sat. Mar. 18th 7:30pm, Christy and i are looking forward to it.

I have the TRD and love it. To me it's not so much the shorter shifts but the shifter is further back so it's more comfortable to go through the gears. I felt like I had to stretch to change gears with the factory shifter.

If there's one mod I would suggest to ANYONE, it would be a shifter. It makes driving much much much better.

so from what I see already, those who have it love it. that would mean the mod is a go! now just get some cash from one who owes me and we're in business.

I installed the TWM Short Shifter after only two weeks of owning my car. It is an excellent mod and it makes the shifts feel notchy and crisp.

what did everyone roughly pay for your short shifter? I'm looking in the $100-$125 range.

They're not on back order. Some dealers just can't keep up with the part # changes going on. But I assure you they are not on back order and we have some in stock.

I love the TRD quick shifter. I have a few friends locally that have them and I love driving them with the quick shifter. It's not really a shorter shifter but it shortens the throw a lot. It like a toggle switch.

I have the rs-type and love it. Just adds a little more fun to drive factor to the whole car.

I would recomend the twm over all of them, that sucker has such a short throw! And I have driven in all the scions with all the shifters too. TWM has got it down. :D

Does anyone know of a replacement for the stock automatic shift lever? It is something that I don't have to reach often while driving. I want something two inches shorter and with a smaller head.

I highly recommend the TRD shifter. Mine took about 30 mins to install, no problems with fitment, and to date I haven't had one problem with it.

The TRD is nice... not for the shorter shifts but for the feeling. The TRD takes away a lot of the 'slop' that the stock unit had. When installing the TRD, leave the knob on the end so it won't flail around and scratch up your interior.

i was gonna get a trd with the $50 scion card. i ordered the infernal thing from my dealer back in november. i got sick of waiting for their call at the end of december. they said it was labeled as something other than back order by the distributor. i called a few weeks ago and they said it was now ready to be shipped in, but i had decided on the perrin in the mean time so i was calling to change my order ;)

perrin is more expensive, but they sold me on the adjustability.

btw, Romanova, loving the love hina.

I have ordered a shift knob for my automatic transmission with it carbon fiber insert from Gr8 Discount Sales. It has a overdrive button on it. It is a lot thinner than s stock knob so maybe it won't bug my knee.

I got the trd. It is better than stock, but not quick like a short through on a RWD car, still have that loose feeling because of the cables, but much better than stock. It is worth it just don't pay 250+ or whatever the dealer is doing it for.
