Default Test and Tune possibilities...

Hey ya'll? I was wondering if anybody has participated in a test and tune? Would it be possible to organize such and event for just Scions?

I would like to see who's putting down the most horsepower in the PNW. And better yet, who's running the quickest 1/4 mile times.

It would be great to see what other tuners have done to their Scions and I think a test and tune would be a great oppertunity to exchange and swap common knowledge.

I'm also looking into autoX this summer and would like to have some Scion Life members speculate or better yet participate in these events. They're mainly held at Boeing field up by Everett and sometimes in Bremerton.

If anyone would like to organize a Test and Tune what would we need to do and how can we do it? I really wanna get this idea going around so we all can get to know one another better.

That's not true. There are plenty of things to tune on an N/A engine. The air/fuel mixture, timing, Vtec (in hondas), etc. Granted there is far more to do in a FI engine, but there is still stuff to tune in n/a engines.

It's tough to get a test and tune strictly for a specific car. But there are plenty of test and tunes throughout the summer. Alot of groups just pick one and then everyone goes to that. I think that would probably be the easiest. Sometimes there are import only tnt, but those are becoming very rare.

I'm putting on my lightweight flywheel and clutch tomorrow, then going to a track day on Sat. Down here in P-town once the weather gets nice they have late night drags on Fri and Sat. We should get a bunch of scions down here one night.

I am up for some sort of test/tune meet. Anything to help me learn more about having fun with my car. I am definately interested in the AutoX thing, I saw a video recently and that looks like a lot of fun. Is there usually driving instruction at one of these events?

Intec, Carb Conn, Kito, and a few other shops around Seattle often do host test n' tunes for car clubs. We would either need to get a bunch of people prepay and rent the dyno for the day or negotiate a discount with the shop. I believe the minimum is typically 6 cars. I know I need another dyno run after the Car Nutz install day

Did you already have a shop in mind? If not I can check with those I mentioned above to see who is willing to work with us. Lets start with trying to get 6 and go from there.

Dyno test n' tune

Any suggestions for shops down here in PDX that would do the same thing?

All my honda freinds say to try out Intec. I've heard they're cool. How much do you think it would be to have that rented out for a day?

HmM?

I should hurry and buy that camcon ecu so that I could lower my vvti.

Or would it be better to go with a emange and adjust the air/fuel mixture?

So many choices!! haha.

If not, then I'd jus wanna dyno my tC and see how much h/p I'd put out with my current bolt-on's.

But yeah, what about quartermile times? What would we need to do to have PR let us run 1/4 mile times???

I have the cam con it works for like five minutes then the ecu "learns" to go around it, now we just need someone to crack the ecu so we can manipulate it so all this electronic a/f timing gadgets will work.

Well lets shoot for Intec. I'll get in touch with them and see if and when they want to do this.

They are also hosting a mini drag series at PR right now.

Pacific Raceways

Feb 11, 2006- Meet the Track- 11:00am

Feb 26, 2006- Round 1 Import Drags- 8:00am

March 19,2006- Round 2 Import Drags- 4:00pm

April- Round 3 Import Drags

June- Import Drags
Might be worth checking out if you want to hit the 1/4 mile, even if just to find out what you're capable of.

There are also wednesday and friday test n' tune 1/4 mile track nights at Bremerton in additon to PR, just have to dig up the schedules... *goes off to look*

Bremerton is a lot closer to me.
What kind of cost are we talking about? Never done anything like
a dyno or tune and drag. If you set something up give us a round
dollar figure.

The cost of racing at Bremerton is $25 for each Test & Tune.
Your car must pass a basic inspection, no hub caps, battery securred, DOT approved tires for Street legal nights, and a few other things.

Check out their website for more information
http://bremertonraceway.com/

Here is a link to the schedule page for Bremerton, http://bremertonraceway.com/2006%20Schedule.htm
Look for nights that say Test & Tune, specifically Street Legal, you can go to the other, but you'll be rollin with full on race cars.

Now for Pacific Raceways
http://www.pacificraceways.com/
Same basics as Bremerton, often more crowded, has lights, so it doesn't get...tricky at night. I think Bremerton has lights, they just never seem to turn them on. Pacific was remodeled more recently, so the track is a little better and the organization of things is much more stright forward.

Cost to Race: Car & Driver: $25.00 (Some classes more)
Competition Number (required to race): $10.00 (one time yearly fee).

Pacific also sells race gas at the track!

Link to track schedule, click drag strip for drag racing, click on a specific event (i.e. test and tune) for more info about the specific event.

http://www.pacificraceways.com/schedule/sched-ndx.cfm

At BOTH facilities there is a fee to watch, usually $10. You must be old enough to sign an insurance release waiver (1 to participate.

seems that we have quite a bit of events to look forward to this summer. But are all the events for NHRA members only? we still have to pay the extra $10 if we're there just to hit 1/4 mile times. I might jus stick with PR if we dont have to pay during those import drag nights. Im just curious to see what kind of a 1/4 mile time I can achieve with my current mods.

But as for a group how would we encorporate everybody? Would most people speculate or are there any drivers here also curious about what kinda of 1/4 mile times they can post?

Man too bad I couldn't go drag on the weekend of the 25th and 26th. I turn 21 weekend so you can imagine how SH*T faced I will be when I wake up. hahaha.

But I'll keep my heads up on this post to see where we stand with intec. If we can confirm a date for a test and tune, count me in!!

I'm always down to run my box down the quarter mile. Wouldn't be the first time. There are different types of drag racing, being the fastest isn't always important as being consistent,... fast is more fun

Do you think you could have hit faster quarter mile times if the roads were dry? ?Didn't Scion claim the quarter mile times for the tC were like 15.7 or something?

HMm. Hopefully when I get a set of new rims, it will be wrapped with some race tires. That should shave a few tenths of a second on the 1/4 mile time.
But I still want to see what I run with stock tires first then run again with new tires.

Whens the next time you think you'll be going? Oh and do you attend any of the Scikotics meets up north? I did a couple of times, but everyone I talked to didn't know squat about tuning cars and what not. I've done all the mods on my car myself, it would be nice to meet somebody knowledgable.

But yeah, PM me and maybe we could meet up. Im gonna install my schocks and sways this weekend. Maybe we could cruise downtown.
