Reason 1:
I have an interview with a very large software company on Thursday. This will be huge relief for my wife and I.

Reason 2:
I am playing in a poker tournament on Saturday for (hopefully) a free buy-in to a WSOP satellite tournament.
Currently ranked number 2(of about 900) in the city of Portland, and I have a good chance (assuming I know when to fold them and when to hold them) of winning.

Unfortunately, this means I won't be at the Meet & Greet (beaverton kripsy kreme 4:00) unless something goes terribly wrong with my mad poker skillz ;)

Thanks!

I believe Bill Gates is an avid poker player. Maybe you should have this prominantly on your resume. And mention your poker skills in the interview several times.

Good luck bro!

Definitely know when to fold that 2/7 offsuit.......regardless of your gut, you will not pull the 4 cards needed for a straight....... ;)

that is why they call it the best starting hand, right? or is that what they tell me at the table to make me play it?

Yup. Our first night in Vegas and we finished 1-2 out of 47 people. Definitely nice to start a vegas trip out with a head start. It sure was fun giving all that money and then some back the rest of the week heh.

i hope you had fun in the tournament. I am a poker dealer at Bally's Casino in Atlantic City. A lot people don't like tournament because it drags on too long.

Good Luck with your job .

Well, the interview went well, but they informed me they had found a candidate with more skills(webdev). My background is more SysAdmin. They said they thought I would be a good fit for their department, but they felt the other person had a better chance of being able to get started right away.

Although i am used to competing for jobs lately, it is getting old. In the meantime, I will keep putting my resume out there and try to get a decent job.

Thanks for the wishes though.
