Are you talking about taking the front seats out, or the rear seats, and you do you mean just take them out to lay the wood down and put them back on or do you want to make custom mounted seats. Please explain more indepth, cause the front seats have 4 bolts each and their out. But im digging the disco theme. Groovy man groovy.

the only probelm i see with installing wooden floors, is the fact that your interior noise level will pretty much sky-rocket, without any sound deadning like the caprets themselves. But besides that MORE POWER TO YOU!!!

There's a reason they switched to steel, I guess you will find out.

Wood floor? That will be quite an undertaking, but believe it will look great and very unique when completed. Post pics please. Also, that floor is not a flat sheet of metal. Perhaps use sound deadening material to fill in the dips and valleys. Good luck with it.

I've thought about this wood floor last year but the problem I ran into is the shifting/bending of the floor itself. Perhaps if you can find wood that is flexible enough to take the abuse without cracking then I'll give you all the props I have left in my pocket. Good luck bro. BTW, I'm still going forward also with this "wood floor" concept.

Sounds very cool, and definitely easy to clean.

At a recent auto show, some car company (Acura I think) was showing off a concept with hardwood floors.

Ialso thought about wood, but only on the trunk and the back of the rear seat, the sides and trunk panel. wood with steel inserts kinda look like those hot rod trucks, if only the folded seats are leveled to the trunk.

If I remember correctly it's been done already, at least partially. It was the woody xB, the one with the rack on top and the surf stickers on the rear qtr windows. I'm not sure if it was done on the entire floor, but what I saw looked great.

If you really want to do a wood floor, I can only think of one way to do it. Step 1, remove all carpeting. Step 2, install sound deadener throughout the floor. (Dynamat, E-Dead, whatever.) You will need to be careful with this step to get as smooth a finish as possible. Step 3, apply a wood veneer to the sound deadened floor.

If you could get this process to work, you would have a pretty quiet cabin, and get the wood floor look you desire. The veneers are usually only about 0.6 mm thick. Since they can be fragile, you can also look into some of the thin backed veneers. These can be less expensive and may be easier to work with. But they can also be harder to get tighter radii out of. These usually range in thickness from 2 mm to 1/8".

Good luck.

There wouldn't be alot of wood I would think since not much of the floor is flat. I could see small sections done in wood though. Would love to see it.

Clearly, hes not going to do it. Anybody that has to ask how to take the seats out or drop the headliner does not have the experience, nor the know how to undertake this kind of thing. Everybody needs to stop getting their hopes up and forget that this post ever even happened.

im going to have to side with PatD, seeing that the person who started the thread hasnt replied yet even after all the help others have left. but layed out wood would be pretty unique and look good. Other bad side, worrying about wet shoes warping the wood.
