Default Scion Security Question:

Just had a quick question about the Scion Security option. I got it installed with the car, did all the tricks to make sure it was working properly. Tapped my key on the drivers side window and the alarm went off.

But the question is.. when doing it on the passenger side window is it suppose to go off? I'm under the impression its not but just wanted to be sure. Wouldn't it make sense to have it work on the passenger side window as well as the drivers side.

It should go off... the sensor is a pressure sensor for the whole interior. You should be able to do the same on the middle of the sunroof too.

Hrmm it doesnt on the passenger side. Didn't try it on the sunroof because I dont wanna risk hitting it than it breaking apart because of the recall Scion has had.

The "recall" ... (service campaign) ... was for the wind deflector. Not the actual sunroof.

Well either way I'm more worried about the passenger side window than the sunroof when it comes to the alarm.. u dont see many people try to break a sunroof to get in a car lol.

Anyone who has the scion security system test there passenger side or know if the window on the passenger side is suppose to go off? Just wouldnt make sense if the drivers side works and all the other tests work but the passenger side window doesnt.

it should go off if you hit it hard enough... i have no doubt if someone breaks any window.. the alarm will go off... but if you want to... there's a way to adjust the sensitivity.

sensitivity was already adjusted by the dealer to something higher to get the drivers side window to go off with just a small tap.. i hit the passenger side pretty well and the alarm did not go off.

One thing to consider is that the sensor is on the drivers side, left of the steering wheel on that panel for switches. So it's MUCH closer to the drivers window than the passenger.

I have the security system too, so I tried what you guys said, and I couldnt get the alarm to go off when hitting the window with the key in any spot or on any window. Is it that i'm not hitting it hard enough? (i was careful not to hit it too hard) or could it be just that it's not working (in which case i'd bring it back to the dealership).

How hard are you guys hitting it? lightly tapping or moderately hard to get it to go off?

depends on sensitivity it's set at... you might have to wack it really hard for it to go off.. or not.

the alarm system.. box.. whatchamajig is a real pain to get at.. it's located behind your glove box in the most upper right hand corner... there are two bolts that hold the bracket in that holds the two boxes for the system

the sentivity thingy wutevers is a little blue box kinda above the cluth pedal .. i moved mine towards the steering wheel and its pretty sensative. i kinda regret getting that factory alarm.. kinda pricey but then again i didnt want to have extra alarm remotes to carry around..

thats definetly not the factory alarm.. the factory alarm is located behind the glove box which u have to take apart. looks like the dealership gave u an aftermarket alarm.

you'll need to make an apt. for something like that. let them know that u need the sensitivity adjusted as well as an oil change.. they'll prob. make u drop it off though in the morning if its a saturday and call u in the afternoon to pick it up since adjusting the sensitivity requires undoing the glove box and such. an oil change takes 5mins.
