View Full Version : factory ground effects
itimebomb 05-22-2004, 06:20 PM wow i haven't been on the board in a while. so i was flipping through my e-pricing guide to see some of the parts that are available to the dealership. there's supposed to be a factory set of ground effects available but i was not able to find a picture and they are not priced yet either. the scion rep online said we might see pictures as the site is updated, so i guess we'll see. anyone else heard about these?
as a side note the exhaust setup is pricy. around $525 is the estimate! granted something like an apex-i cat back runs more than that, it's just a big jump from the $300 one for the xA/B.
cypher50 05-22-2004, 06:49 PM Yea, I figured the exhaust would be that much...I still am interested though if it is a good setup from TRD :? . As for the ground effects, I am really really really interested in them...I wish I could see a photo of the way that they make the car look once they are on.
djimpak 05-22-2004, 10:39 PM is it going to be a whole bodykit or just lips?
yhsu1 05-23-2004, 01:40 AM probably lips, but including front lip, side skirts, and rear skirt.
Rich_Manas 05-23-2004, 03:35 AM the exhaust for the tC looks exactly like the trd exhaust for the celica and price is the same if not less. the celica got an additional 14hp and it was carb legal. i'm suspecting the tC might get a little more since its a bigger motor with a more restrictive factory exhaust system.
the kit i have feeling will be a lip kit, nothing to ricey since the car would look awful if it had F&F body kit on it. hopefully it looks like the one below.

djimpak 05-23-2004, 05:21 AM i hope its a lip kit. those look very clean.
skyon 05-23-2004, 05:40 AM I saw somewhere, can't remember exactly but the factory ground effects package is priced just under $1,000. Think I'll save my dough for the supercharger first, it's around $2600 b/f installation costs.
Third on the list at Jim Norton Scion Tulsa, can't wait for June to arrive. :P
skyon 05-23-2004, 05:45 AM Here's the link to the accessory costs on the forum, http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14448
TheBigGuyRy 05-23-2004, 05:46 AM 2600 for the supercharger...? Did you just pull that out of thin air or is there some new information that I didn't know exsisted. Please explain.
skyon 05-23-2004, 05:56 AM I got that from my Scion dealer in Tulsa. Chris seemed very on top of all the questions I had about pricing and features.
djimpak 05-23-2004, 06:27 AM daym $2600 is pretty good for factory s/c. i'll try to save some cash for that hehe.
TheBigGuyRy 05-23-2004, 04:08 PM It's ok for a s/c... I was really hoping for cheaper than that considering it's lackluster performance.
I could throw down the exact same amount and get my Si running at around 240 hp... stupid mediocre TRD.
Rich_Manas 05-23-2004, 08:18 PM i wouldn't make assumptions until i hear the actual pricing from toyota or trd regarding the s/c.
Rich_Manas 05-23-2004, 08:18 PM i wouldn't make assumptions until we see the actual pricing from toyota or trd regarding the s/c.
tC4me 05-24-2004, 12:30 AM a ground effects kit for $995??!? Too much money for just adding extra weight, but hey, its your money and you can waist, i mean spend it how ever you want.
Trdkamuri510 05-24-2004, 01:25 AM hmm 995 methinks you havent seen the price for the ones on the camry and solara.
mine back in 99 costed what??? about 2k so 995 is Fawking cheap.
even now the camry kit (gulf states has em) are about 1700 and the one for the solara is fawkin expensive too.
TheBigGuyRy 05-24-2004, 03:03 AM Rich ... do you know something we don't know? You devil you...
djimpak 05-24-2004, 05:34 AM Rich ... do you know something we don't know? You devil you...
i 2nd that.
itimebomb 05-25-2004, 05:28 PM has anyone seen the Camry with factory ground effects? we just got one in last week on an SE model. granted it's a lot cooler than it was, but it looks like a really big Corolla S. i hope the tC ground effects are alittle more creative but classy.
SKYON: i'm hurt and offended that you did not consider Fowler Scion of Norman in your Scion purchase. j/k...norton's good people. if you're in OKC swing by sometime, i'm "pimping" out my dealer car big time.
trdcamry2003 05-25-2004, 10:13 PM I have a pic of the factory ground effects kit from the rear. I'll post it tonight...

trdcamry2003 05-27-2004, 06:15 AM Ok sorry it took so long. This is the only pic I've seen so far for the ground effects kit. It is a pic of one of the displays in the dealership. I only have a pic of the rear. To tell you the truth I don't really like it that much.

doesnt look pleasing but we need better pictures at better angles to prove otherwise
cypher50 05-27-2004, 06:52 AM Yea, unless the other profile photos look cool I would pass on that kit.

Sorry, thats the stock bumper. Anyone else have any info on the factory kit??
djimpak 05-27-2004, 10:16 PM yes its the stock bumper but with a rear lip.
trdcamry2003 05-28-2004, 12:12 AM Trd isn't making a new rear bumper. Just a lip kit. Maybe it looks better with a side shot. I'm pretty sure it is being made by Molly Designs like all the other TRD lip kits. Maybe they have pics on their site.
djimpak 05-28-2004, 04:46 AM i hope the lip kit looks better than what i think it looks just from that one picture.
Milhamscion 05-28-2004, 07:20 PM I'm still pretty sure thats the stock bumper w/ out a lip

BlueBox 05-28-2004, 10:31 PM that is one ugly rear bumper lip... wassup with the extension flare? that is abit ghetto... why can't they make something abit more along the body seamline..something along/flush with the bodyline... that look like an cheap rear spoiler attached upside-down.
man... i know i'm not getting that option for sho.
scionteammember 05-29-2004, 01:30 AM Here is a good pic of a front lip kit. I do not know if it is factory and I am sure most of you have seen, but I like it alot. Thought you might want to see it if you had not already. I thought I knew how to post it, but I was wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
scionteammember 05-29-2004, 01:40 AM Lets try this and see if it works. You have two choices and I hope they work.

Let me know what you think.
scionteammember 05-29-2004, 01:43 AM That worked. Personally I do not like the silver one. If you scroll down on the post, you will see a badass red one that makes me drool. This will be my last post in here for a while since I just did three in a row. Let me know what you think.
itimebomb 06-01-2004, 12:53 AM that pictures isn't with the kit i don't think. i just posted that up in my showroom and if you look closely it doesn't flare out at all, the edges of the bumper are in the shadows. if you haven't seen this this is the same deal:
http://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15385
scion has said that as of yet there is not a posted pic of the ground effects
djimpak 06-01-2004, 02:07 AM its not a whole rear bumper. its just a rear lip skirt.

Thats what I have been saying. I think the shadows just give it a deeper look.
birdy 06-01-2004, 05:28 PM everybody is so ready to see it that they post stuff thats either not the real thing or something thats a hoax
tC4me 06-01-2004, 06:51 PM WARNING:
Do not buy from QUICK or QEI RACING. He has ripped off a lot of people. PM ikonXone for details or concerns
Many people on this site have had problems with that place.
pfaudi_a4 06-17-2004, 07:59 PM Hey Rich Manas,
Where did you find that pic of the G35 coupe (badged as a Nissan Skyline) you posted earlier in this thread?
thanks...

i know this is an old post... but that magazine scan is the stock bumper. the camera and lighting just makes it look like a lip. look carefully at the bottom indent in the bumper. i've seen the bodykit as well, and that's not it.

Whoa! I got it to work!... Front & Back -- is there no sides?
I'm eyeballing the sides, and I don't think I see a difference.
i have pics that i took of the bodykit on a silver streak if you want it... just give me a PM with your email and i'll send it to you.. there is a nice subtle difference to it.

Try this, because I couldn't see a difference either until I tried it:
Go to http://www.wanttc.com and click on contemplate. Now with that window open, use the link above to access the ground effect kit at the Scion website (in a new window, of course). Now flip back and forth between the two windows and you will see a difference. The stock tC has straight skirts below the doors, but the ground effect kit has skirts that are "indented", if you will. Check it out and you'll see the difference.
The side skirts are the only things I like about the kit. :(
