That's pretty much what it's for. The first year I went to the show, my car was basically stock. I got in. It's pretty much for the cars that are still in "progress" mode. IE: unpainted.

I'm going to be 'cutting costs' and partying all night and sleeping in my car at the show the next day....lol

I have some more information now about the show. First of all, as of right now there is only 1 Scion class. It will combine all the cars together. Now, Kevin said that he will create an individual class for each class that has at least 5 entrants. There are no guarantees on that, and he won't create the class until he sees that at least 5 have registered. So keep registering if you want to get an individual class made. I think we could probably get one for each the TC and the xB. There is very little chance of getting an xA class, but oh well.

Now, registration. Registration for this event (for the Scion Life crew) is going to be a 2 for 1 process. That means 2 cars for each registration. Now, for those of you who have already registered, we are still trying to figure out a way to get this to work completley. I think what might end up happening is once everyone has registered we will just get a pool of the money and send it up to Kevin. If you have already registered, you don't need to do anything else.

Kevin also said that with the registration will also be the 2 VIP passes as usual. And each person that competes will receive a 5L jug of Castrol Sytec Oil. And there will probably be some other stuff (cleaner, etc) in the bag they give us at roll in.

If you have any questions, let me know and I'll answer what I can. If I can't, I'll find out from Kevin.

VIP passes means u get like 2 wrist bands..so u can come in and out of the show as u please..normally the person who rolls in with u to the show gets the other wrist band

I can't guarantee a Saturday roll in. I can talk to Kevin and see if he will allow it, but I can't say for sure that you'll be able to.

I'll wait until next Friday (April 21st) morning before sending the list off to Kevin. If anyone still is waiting until later to register, that's fine. But I have to send him what we have early so he can get things organized. So if you want to register after the 21st, you still can. Just make sure that you send me a PM or email (brian@mospeed.com) and let me know so I can make sure you are added to the Scion Life list.

Yea, I didn't think there would be a Sat roll-in so I didn't plan on entering the show. I'd only go up there as a regular visitor.

your gonna have a hell of a time rolling in on a saturday...not only will you have to deal with a six hour drive up...then you have to clean your car..and it would just be no bueno.

Otsego_Undead=your better off to drive up on friday and stay ina room with a bunch of ppl like alot of us are doing...split up the costs 4 or 5 or even 6 ways it will be like 20 buck a night..nothing too horrible....

That's why it's tough to get a Saturday roll in...especially for Canada. They have done it in the past, but they usually require that you be there by 8 or 9am. So it's really tough to get it especially if you are coming from Oregon. I think what might work is if you are up there Friday night, and miss Friday night roll in. But if you are there first thing in the morning on Saturday then you might be able to get in ok. That makes it alot easier to try to get in on Saturday.

Lol! youre funny! Anytime you do a major show you will most likely have to put your car in the venue the day before. Unless you have been in the scene for a while and know the coordinators or have a HOT car that is well known then you can sometimes get a way with a saturday roll in.

I just got an email from Kevin, and he has a way to make the registration process easier.

Once you register and accept the terms, it will redirect you to a paypal screen. The cost should say $25 there. Go ahead and pay through that, that way we won't have to try to get everyone together to pay all at once.

If you have already registered, please go to the paypal website and send the money to cars@sportcompact.ca

If you don't have a paypal account, you can register for a temporary one that will take a credit card payment.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

done... actually it did re-direct me to paypal and charged the $50... but then about 5min later got a email saying refund of $25 due to SL 2 for 1...... so woohoo

Here's a little more info about roll in.

Kevin would prefer if everyone can roll in on Friday. Roll in is from 7pm - 11pm. So there is plenty of time to roll in. Even if it means getting there at 10:30pm and just parking the car. Then you can get back in on Saturday at 9am to do the clean up if you need to.

All cars MUST have less than 1/4 tank of gas. Your battery MUST be disconnected by 11am with the hood open. You must also have a locking gas cap or have your gas cap taped. Failure to do this may result in having your car TOWED out of the building. They are going to be strict about this due to fire regulations.

If there is absolutely no way that you can make it up there before 11pm on Friday, please let me know as soon as possible and I will try to work something out with Kevin. It will be easier for everyone if you can plan on being up there Friday night. Keep in mind that if you can't make it in there by 11pm on Friday, you will probably be required to be at the door very early on Saturday morning in order to get in. So driving up on Saturday morning isn't going to be a really good option. It also will not guarantee that you will be parked with the rest of the group, because the path may be blocked by other cars/vendors. So like I said, to make sure you get into the show without major problems, please try to be up there on Friday.

Here is the basic schedule of the day(s)

Friday

Exhibitor load-in: 10:00am to 6:00pm
Exhibitor display vehicles: 6:00pm to 7:00pm
Competitor car load-in: 7:00pm to 11:00pm

Saturday

9:00am: Doors open for competitors
1:00pm: Show opens to the public
2:00pm: All cars ready for judging
11:00pm: Closing time for the public
12:00am: Everyone must be out of the building.

Roll out at these shows are pretty smooth and go rather quickly. But it's best if you start packing up before the awards are read (around 10:30). That way everything is put away before awards are read, and you are ready to go as soon as they open the doors.

That's all I can really think of right now. Just a little heads up for the people who maybe haven't been to a show or haven't been to a Canada show yet. If I think of anything else, I'll post it up. Just trying to eliminate any surprises for everyone.

It is best to bring at least 2 peices of Identification. Usually I bring my driver's license and a copy of my birth certificate. If you have a passport, you can bring that instead. There have been many times where I have been through fine with just a driver's license, and then there are times where I have had to have both. So just to be safe, make sure you can bring 2 pieces of ID.

You can also use an expired Passport for Canada

yeah, well the fact that a hotel is going to cost me at least 40 bucks a night to sleep on the floor, plus two meals a day, plus you have to remember, after teh show you are only going to have 1/4/ tank of gas which means you need to buy gas in Canada, which costs about 15 -20% more than US gas.

SO to break it down for you:

Hotel : $80.00
Gas: $50.00
Food: $50.00 (I'm being nice here)
Booze: $30.00

They are so good! Holy crap, we had about 70 of them last year. And I'm not nearly exageratting. <drool> So good.

I get to be floor trash at the hotel for $125. Although, I always sleep on the floor in hotels, so it doesn't really matter. They say you can't bring in your own food. You can bring in snacks and stuff. Just don't be bringing 4 XL Pizzas or something. haha. Food prices there aren't really that bad up there.

Last year they let me walk in with a grocery sack day of the show through the back entrance (the one you can only get in with a wrist band, same place you roll in). I just had waters and some energy bars. If you want to have a small stash of food I recommend it be in the car at roll in with your detailing stuff or something. If you're staying near the show (Sandman) you can keep some food in your room and just have some one watch your car while you go eat. And remember 88 cents pizza on Grandville... there is a 2 drink minimum for it to be eatible.
