Default What I did this weekend

Since my deck came back from service I decided it was time to install it with a more custom look than the commercially available mounting kits offered. Plus, I decided that I wanted to mount to the metal factory brackets for increased theft and skip reduction. I also started to re-route the cabling. It's much cleaner but you can't tell from the pics since this was during the beginning of the project. I am waiting for some adhesives to set and a couple of parts to arrive and then I'll get some more comprehensive photos. Here's a couple of pictures to start things off: Wiring- Mounting Kit- (notice the ghetto Sharpie colormatch job at the bottom LOL), XM and Deck Mark

Well, good job on the mounting kit, even though i dont like the look of it (over a regular mounting kit) looks like you did a pretty good job on it.

Looks like you did a good job but I don't like the look of it either. Looks like somethign is missing and you put a plate there to take up space.

10/4. You know the thought of centering never occured to me. I wonder if I could do that by utilizing the factory mount? Hmmmm. Mark

I have the materials to make that happen but I rather like it so I think I am gonna leave it. For those that like the look of the mounting kits that 's cool, you know to each their own. I feel a lot safer actually having it mounted to some metal vs. some thin ABS. The 1/0 is for the power only, I am actually going to use a 4AWG ground since that's what the amp accepts so I didn't see the need to add additional resistance by using a dist. block then going to 4GA to the amp anyways. Now all I need to do is fabricate an amprack/footwell panel, run additional 12AWG speaker wire, build a subwoofer enclosure, and hand-fabricate kickpanel enclosures. Man, that's a heck of a list. Certainly a possibility. I see a lot of guys doing crazy custom lighting in their boxes and all I want is brighter dome light, or at least one in the hatch area. Now that I think about it why I didn't mount my bass **** for my amp right below the deck is beyond me? Mark
