Blitz ran 6 psi on the prius with 13:1 comp ratio so with the right tuning of the air fuel ratio and the right timing is it not possable to run 10 psi of boost safely on the 10.5:1 1nz-fe. keeping a close eye on detenation of corse. with stock internals and comp ratio. Any info would help.

I can tell you that i am hitting 9.5 psi with mine, and read 11 psi when spraying. no problems. This is no lie.

Design the system right and don't listen to everyone else here that says at 178.9884 HP you will crack the # 3 rod.

The key word is 'right'.

Thanks for that link, Alex, I read it once before and forgot about it and have been trying to find it again.

BoogieQ, this is very fascinating what you are trying. Is there another post where you are making regular updates?

Yes sir, the 'progress' thread near the top of the F/I forum, my name as the author.

Now, back to the poster's post :)

Just as i suspected the key word is right. 9.5 and 11 with spray is perfect. I was finding it difficult to belive that the engine was that week, you just need a percise way to tune the a/f and timing to eliminate detenation and watch your exhaust temp's. Thanks for the info .

Agreed, fuel is key. If you run lean mixtures on a bad tune at high pressures and high rpm, you WILL break something. There is no reason why this engine (and I don't even want to hear a word about 'offset cranks and rods') cannot double it's output on the stock block. Don't spin the thing to wild RPM levels and run a good tune with good fuel delivery and proper boost control at a nice cool temp (i.e. use intercoolers) and things should hold up well for some time.

Not to say you won't destroy the transmission if you harp on it in first gear, but you get the idea.
