could a new pulley even do that to the supercharger shaft? i'm not even exactly sure what the problem was-all they said was that there's a leak from the shaft, but that they couldn't replace just the shaft-they'd have to replace the entire supercharger.

I don't know if the pulley would do it but as soon as they saw it on the end of a broken shaft attached to it I guarantee they'd blame it

Just watching to see if they find a cause.

I think they would blame a pulley instantly if installed. But in reality I dont think a pulley could cause.

There is a difference from gottis situation. Our vehicle warranty does not state that they will blanket void anything due to aftermarket parts that cannot be proved to be the cause... The MM act therefore protects against that to a degree. But, from what I have heard, they do state that removing the tamper proof cap voids the warranty on the SC itself, so legally they are perfectly sound in not repairing one with the pulley changed regardless of cause, so it would be even be something you could fight. Now this is just from what I have heard about the SC warranty.

Some thing that the MM Act protects them 100% in all cases.. which from what I have read of it is completely untrue. It only protects you if the warranty does not state up front that any type of tampering will void. If they state that in the warranty information for a car. then they absolutely can refuse coverage.

I doubt the pully would cause the issue mentioned here.. but depending on how the warranty is worded they could possibly deny you service regardless.

What engifineer says is true. I'd be surprised if this is a widespread problem though. With him having trouble with other parts of the s/c I would think he just got a bad kit but then I could be wrong

Ok. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I don't have my TC yet, but will soon. Is the tamperproof cap something that can be removed and put back on with ease?? If so, why not take off the stock pulley, then if something goes wrong, then just put it back on??? Anyone thought of that? Or, take pictures with a dig. camera at the dealership when they hand over the keys. If they never put the tamperproof cap on, then you can say, that it was never on there and show the pictures. How would could they blame an aftermarket 9psi pulley, if you just put the stock back on if something breaks?? Please enlighten me here. Thanks

Jason

If they compare the wear on your pulley to the wear of the other parts of the supercharger, they could probably tell you've been using an aftermarket pulley. Also depends on what the problem is. If it's directly related to the pulley but your pulley isn't showing any defects, then they'll call you oni t.

There's also that whole 'Fraud' thing where if they do find out you lied, they can take you to court.

If you're willing to put aftermarket parts on your car, then you should be ready to deal with the consequences of doing so.

There's a whole thread about the warranty, morals, fraud, etc. Search for it and you can debate and read all about it there. Let's leave this thread to yellotootr and his problem.

His problem sucks, but it's covered under warranty so all the parts and labor are free, thus the bonus of the Supercharger saves teh day. Waiting sucks, but hey...free is better than $2,000 in labor :p

And no, I don't work at a dealership.
