View Full Version : Thought about a new color for the xb...maybe limited edition rogcjms 05-23-2004, 10:19 PM What about a limited carbon fiber paint? I think it'd be cool. I thought about this becuase there are a lot of carbon fiber accesories for the xb. let me know what you guyz think. :) BoomBox757 05-23-2004, 10:24 PM it would be hard to make, and it wouldn't look very good. rogcjms 05-23-2004, 10:30 PM you dont think so? i think it would look cool, like you know the b-pilars are kinda like holographic if you look at them a certain way? that would be sweet paint. But i bet the price for carbon fiber paint would be expensive. just my .02 on a new paint scheme... MotoMan_YZ400 05-23-2004, 10:33 PM well first off, you wouldnt be able to just "paint" in carbon fiber... for example, have you ever seen someone paint in plad? So it would have to be some kind of film or vynal covering to cover all panals of the car. Lots of work, shoot if you buy enough of the stuff you minght be able to do it yourself or get a shop to do it. BoomBox757 05-23-2004, 10:38 PM I thought he ment a custom with it detailed so it looks like it. thats why I think it would look like crap. TheScionicMan 05-23-2004, 10:48 PM That's a good one. When I used to work construction, they'd always send the new guy down to get striped paint or black and white checkered paint... (And NO, I didn't fall for it  ) Some should chrome dip their whole xB, that would be tight! 8) rogcjms 05-23-2004, 11:28 PM if someone chrome dipped their xb they would blind everyone and then they'd really be in some s*** lol No, i didnt mean a custom carbon fiber, i actually meant an actual color choice. I know it would be a lot of work but I think it would look good. :) kwicslvr 05-24-2004, 12:08 AM It would be cool to see but for me, I'm not much of a CF guy. TheScionicMan 05-24-2004, 12:19 AM But do you understand that CF gets its pattern from the weave of the Carbon Fiber, then overlayed with a clear topping. The car would have to be laid with CF BY HAND. TO fake it, it would have to be handpainted which would be more tedious and look worse than actually doing it in CF. Take a close look next time at CF... You could that be painted? Again, it's like some said, you can't mix red and black paint and expect it to spray out plaid. You could spray one color and overlay a pattern in another color, but it wouldn't ever look weaved like CF and if you could make a stencil big enough to try and spray on a CF look, then you might as well make the same thing out of CF vynil and slap it on instead... http://www.benevento4you.com/Images/ColorChartImages/LargeJpegs/RealCarbonFiber.jpg its_ikon 05-24-2004, 01:37 AM a marble paint job would be cool Da_BoX 05-24-2004, 01:55 AM carbon would be one: -Expensive two: hard to do three: it would blind me  Max2k 05-24-2004, 03:30 AM That would be 1. Hideous. 2. Impractical. 3. Expensive 4. Did i mention hideous? I think the RS2 should be gunmetal or dark gray, since I know they'll never come out in pink. XBman 05-24-2004, 03:39 AM yeah max u said it rogcjms 05-24-2004, 03:59 AM I do agree with all you guys, It would be expensive and hard to do. I also agree with u MAX, gunmetal or charcal grey (i know i spelled it wrong) would be sweet! satanisanerd734 05-24-2004, 02:34 PM is it possible to paint on carbon fiber... wouldn't you need to do an applique??? I dont think it would look good.... your opinion though.. naoki 05-24-2004, 05:26 PM Wouldn't this idea *kinda* look like the Scion xA Primer Gray shown at the SEMA show? Not carbon fiber but... I thought that was a great "color" (or lack of) in it's own right, plus it was ready for you to spray your own unique paint on! |
