View Full Version : Sun roof???? DayLight 11-06-2003, 10:35 AM Any one put a sun roof in yet??? sensez 11-06-2003, 03:58 PM not yet.. ive heard it runs about 1800 ? is that too much? randode 11-06-2003, 05:47 PM Jon from SPFR.com has a sliding ragtop in his red one, and DUAL glass sunroofs in his blue one. DibujoB 11-06-2003, 06:03 PM We've put moonroofs on 2 cars. Real clean install, and it's all 1 touch. if you pull the keys out of the ignition when it's open it closes on it's own. If I could afford it, I'd probably put one in my own car. ToyBox 11-06-2003, 06:50 PM do you guys know a rough estimate of how much it cost. and where in south cali that has a place that does it.. that close on it's own thing is pretty neat. xB_ey 11-06-2003, 08:36 PM We've put moonroofs on 2 cars. Real clean install, and it's all 1 touch. if you pull the keys out of the ignition when it's open it closes on it's own. If I could afford it, I'd probably put one in my own car. i'm going to assume that the two cars youre talking about are xb's? on aftermarket sunroofs, can you tell me why there is always a "lip" (usually black plastic) surrounding it, as opposed to factory moon/sun roofs that are usually flush to the ceiling or top of the car's roof without a lip? i was going to do one, but do not want that lip...i want more of a factory look ie. flush. is that possible on aftermarket roofs? i had it done to my jeep cherokee and i didnt mind the lip because you couldnt see the top the car. thx in advance. DibujoB 11-06-2003, 08:50 PM Yes, the 2 moonroofs we put in were both xB's. We haven't done an xA yet, although we've been thinking about it. I'd love to try it out and see how it looks. The company that installed them for us is called Classic Soft Trim, or something like that. We offer the moonroof for $1495. It's power slide as well as tilt, and it's one touch with the auto-close feature too. The warranty on it is better than a factory warranty (factory is 3yr/36,000 miles, the moonroof company is 5yr/60,000, with a lifetime on the install...meaning leaks, etc). There is a black outline to the glass...but it sits flush with the car. It's just the rubber seal that goes around. It looks completely factory. I'm trying to find a picture of our car's moonroof on the web, but I'm not finding any good top views. We're trying to get a whole bunch of the aftermarket stuff on our project car on the web...once that's done you'll be able to see it in detail. Also, anyone coming down for the bbq this saturday is welcome to check it out. drew 11-07-2003, 04:42 AM DynamiteSJ has one, I saw it today. Also when I went to the Sacramento meet there was a guy named TJ who also had the sunroof. Very clean on both of them, BUT the head room goes down a bit. scionara 11-07-2003, 04:48 AM Local Sunroof Place here in San Jose charges $1299 for Sliding (slides under the roof) and $899 for the spoiler type sunroof (slides out on top of the roof). Both Guaranteed against air/water leakage for 5 years. SimplifiedScion 11-07-2003, 11:26 PM i bought my xb from scion of el cajon and got the sliding moonroof. before they built there white one i went and ordered my black one with a moonroof. i love my moonroof i recommend it to anybody 11-08-2003, 12:16 AM I am going to see how the spoiler type looks like, I don't want to lose my headroom. ToyBox 11-08-2003, 05:32 AM how do they cut a perfect square for the moonroof without the paint chipping at the end??? toybox1 11-15-2003, 12:09 PM have one on mine ... love it there's not much of a lip (rubber seal) ... but I don't mind cuz I like to stay dry! Docsnuff 11-15-2003, 02:06 PM Hey ToyBox, can you post some pics? The dealer in Chesapeake Va is trying to setup a company to do sunroofs in the xB's. I hope they will be ready for Feb shipment, cause I want one. It will be hard to go from a convertible to nothing. Doc scionracerxb 11-15-2003, 05:04 PM yeah, i've seen some of the work from the el cajon dealer, and it looks real nice....like stock...no fat rubber lip on top...doesn't even take up that much headroom. bBist 11-19-2003, 05:50 AM I have a sunroof done by Webasto here in LA. They are the largest and most reputable installers for sunroofs in California. Most of the dealer vehicles that want a sunroof put in, send them to Webasto. Webasto offers different types of sunroofs for you to choose. They're very friendly and more than willing to show you how each one works in their showroom before you make your decision. Here's the best part. Since they did my sunroof for SEMA, I struck a deal for any scion I send to them. If you want, please PM me for details. Happy Motoring! -Steve otorot8 11-19-2003, 01:36 PM Anyone install a ragtop yet? I have been considering the 35 x70 http://www.streetbeatcustoms.com/slidragtop352.html I am concerned about loss of body strength....any thoughts? Cameron 11-19-2003, 02:01 PM I found pics of an XB with a moonroof (hard to see tho) on Cardomain.com. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/432419/2 Did this guy pay too much? $23,500 for what looks like everything included. Roof rack, rims, and moon roof not to mention all other options. I thinks a salesman somewhere is smiling. Anyway, I thought it looked OK and he listed the brand as AirSole Moonroof. I haven't found this anywhere. A little help please if someone knows what he's talking about. Cameron |
